The question hung in the air between us, and for a moment I considered answering honestly. But something about Alpha Caelum's casual demeanor in the face of mortal danger made me hesitate. The way he'd asked about my dagger and the complete lack of urgency in his voice felt wrong.
‘It's none of his business’, I decided, lifting my chin with more confidence than I actually felt. ‘If he wanted to play games while surrounded by rogues, then so be it’.
