The alarm kept ringing and I kept hitting the snooze button. I had no desire to leave my warm and comfy bed. "I have to get a job with night shifts." I groaned when I finally got out of the bed and went to the bathroom to freshen up.
I decided against shower because it had taken too long for me to get up and there wasn't enough time for it anymore. So I simply washed my face, brushed my teeth and went to make some coffee and toast with Nutella and slices of banana.
After breakfast, I choose to wear something classic - a simple, white blouse and black pencil skirt. I completed the look with gold earrings, which were my favorite, and my lucky necklace. I wasn't superstitious but it couldn't hurt, right?
I hailed a cab and fifteen minutes later I was here - the Woodhouse Publishing House. It had opened just two months ago, but it already had created some buzz, because the CEOs of this place were some well-known businessmen and everyone had high hopes for this company as well. And somehow I had gotten myself a job here.
I straightened my clothes and went in. The first person I saw there - Renee- smiled at me. We had hit it off right from the start on the interview day.
"Hey, Izzy! I'm so happy you got the job!" she whisper-yelled from her seat at the reception table.
"I know, right?" I laughed. It was always wonderful to see a familiar face on the first day. "Do you know where I need to go?"
"Just head up and the receptionist there will move you in the right direction," she smiled and wished me luck. I answered her smile with an even bigger one and went to the 11th floor, where the publishing house was located.
The elevator doors opened to a very busy floor. People ran from one place to another, the buzz of many conversations reached my ears and I grinned. This definitely could be a place where I could see myself working.
I turned to the publishings receptionist, a guy named Jose, who led me into a conference room, where I was given a bunch of papers that I needed to read. "Sorry, the CEOs showed up unannounced, but Amelie should be here soon and then she will show you around. Until then just read this please, okey?"
I nodded and started reading. It was quite boring, just pages on pages of some regulations, rules to follow, there was even the requirements of a junior editor and an example of what my day could look like.
Just as I had finished the last page, a beautiful women came in. She was about 30, with curly light brown hair, big brown eyes, and a bright smile.
"So sorry for keeping you waiting, it's just a bit chaotic today. So, I'm Amelie and I'm in charge of this publishing as long as those jackass CEOs are not here. " she smiled and I laughed. I instantly liked her. And I was super happy to see a woman in charge, especially one who seemed like a genuinely nice person.
"No worries, Jose gave me a reading assignment," I nodded with my chin to the stack of papers and got up to shake her hand. "I'm Isabella, but you can call me Izzy."
"Come, Izzy, I'll show you your new workplace," she said and led me outside the conference room. "So, in the conference room, where you just were, we meet every Friday 9.00 sharp to discuss everything that has happened during the week. Otherwise, we do not really use it that much, but if there is a necessity for you to use it, you have to tell Jose and he will book it for you."
She led me to a room with a floor to ceiling window, a large desk, and some bookshelves. "This will be your office, so you are away from all the others and the noise don't bother you. " I gasped at it. I actually liked my office and as soon as I could put my things here and decorate it a bit, I knew I would love working from here.
"I really like it," I said and went to the desk to put my jacket and purse down.
"Happy to hear it. Now, c'mon, I'll introduce to some people you will have to work together, " she said and we left my office. However, just as soon as we got back to the reception, she suddenly stopped, cursed and then plastered a fake smile on her face.
"Mr. Woodhouse back so soon?" I straighten, not quite ready to meet my CEO so fast.
"No, just lost my phone somewhere. I was hoping I left it here," said a low, familiar voice.
No way! No way I could be so unlucky!
I felt myself blush, and when Amelie shifted, my fears where indeed confirmed.
"Well, since you're here I can introduce you with our newest member, junior editor Izzy Faith," she said and stepped aside so I could go and shake Mr. Woodhouse's hand.
He lifted his gaze from the cellphone he obviously had found, and when he saw me, he grinned.
So he obviously remembers you. Maybe you should be flattered. And embarrasses you flipped off your new boss just yesterday. Though he or his brother did put his hands in your panties.
"Nice to meet you, ms. Faith. I'm Jake Woodhouse, one of the two CEOs running this place. What's your first impression of the company?" he asked politely, but his eyes were sparkling, and I could see the laughter in them.
"Why are you always so slow? We have places to be," someone stepped out of the elevator and growled. And of course, that was Adrian, because why wouldn't I meat both of them on my first day in front of my new boss?
He went to stand next to Jake, not sparing me or Amelie a glance. "Sorry, I got caught up. But I met our new employee, " Jake said and nodded in my direction.
I could feel Adrian's annoyance, but it dissipated fast as he saw me standing there. a slow smirk appeared on his face and he stepped forward, took my hand in his and kissed it. "It's a pleasure to meet you, ms...?"
"Faith," I mumbled, then cleared my throat and tried again. "Izzy Faith. "
"Ms. Faith." he took a step back, looked at his twin and I did not like the identical smile spreading on both of their faces.
"We're off today, Amelie, but be ready for us tomorrow. It looks like we're spending the whole day here." Jake said, then turned around and both men disappeared in the elevator, not waiting or a reply.
Amelie grimaced but continued showing me around and introducing me to my colleagues. Can't say that I heard one thing she was saying because all my thought were on certain twins and the fact that my panties were quite wet for my CEOs.
Just what I needed today.
