  “Drive!” I barked at Graham as I slipped into the back of the car, Sarah’s body nestled safely into my arms. He glanced back at us, his lips pursing together, then jumped on the gas pedal. Before we were out of the street, his phone was already in his hand and he was ordering a doctor to wait for us at home by the time we arrived.   I looked down at her, pressing her closer against my body to make sure I could feel her pulse against my skin, her raspy breathing against my neck. She smelled of alcohol, cigarettes, and perfumes, too many perfumes.   And blood.   There was dry blood on her dress even though she had tried to scrub it off.
