The Night Before Judgment Day

“Nervous?” Thomas asked, looking at Veda. Thomas and Veda were standing on the roof of the mansion, smoking. “Yes; we trained our boys for three long weeks, just to fight one day. It seemed like we were ready. But now that the day is here, I’m not so sure.” Veda said, taking a drag from his cigar. “Don’t worry. As long as we got each other’s back, no one can defeat us. Believe in your men and make your men believe in you. Strength dosen't lie in numbers, it lies in unity.” Thomas said, patting Veda’s back. “I don’t know man, you said our men could be working for The Chakra.” Veda said, still tensed. “I said some of your men might be working for them. But let me tell you a secret- let’s assume that they are on the enemy’s side. But when they see us winning, they will have no choice but to stick with us until the right opportunity arrives. And after tomorrow’s war, the Chakra will be on its knees. So as soon as the traitors see their employer is dead, they WILL follow you. They will have no other choice. Get my point?” Thomas said, looking at the endless sky. “You know a lot of things about strategies and counter strategies. But these things only work on paper. People here are loyal……and stupid.” Veda said. “All my knowledge comes from experience. Come on, let’s eat.” Thomas said, throwing away the cigar butt. Soft music was playing in the dining hall. Amanda was tasting every dish to decide which one makes it to her supper plate. As soon as she saw Thomas and Veda walking in, she pretended to be angry. “How come I’m never invited to smoke with you guys on the terrace. I’m developing a belief that you have some kind of gay thing going on.” she said, eyeing both men. Thomas started laughing, but Veda remained silent. “Come on bro, let’s eat.” Thomas said, laying his hand on Veda’s back. “Yes, come on. The food is extra spicy today. I think the Chakra is trying to kill us with spices.” Amanda said, dancing between plates. Soon enough, Magnetar and Nova joined in and they all sat in their places around the grand table. “Wait, you're not gonna take off that mask now, are you?” Thomas said, looking at Veda, pretending to be worried. “You motherfuc…” Veda yelled and acted like he was going to get up. But the truth was that he had gotten used to Thomas cracking jokes about his appearance. Thomas started laughing, accompanied by Amanda. The older people thought it was inappropriate to make fun of someone’s appearance, so they tried to remain silent. But their smiles gave them away. After an hour of eating and talking, they all scattered. Thomas walked Amanda to her room. But if you have been paying any attention at all, you know that Thomas never just ‘walked’ Amanda to her room. So after about an hour of post-dinner s*x, they were lying naked under the blanket. “Imagine if someone was to walk in on us right now.” Amanda said, giggling from excitement. “Well, I can assure you that they won’t leave the room without a bullet in their head.” Thomas said and smiled. “Does Redland have a film industry?” Thomas asked after some time, sliding his palm on Amanda’s fingers. “No, why?” Amanda asked, confused. “Because I have a girl in mind who could be a superstar.” Thomas said and grinned. “Shut up.” Amanda said and started laughing. “No, seriously; you were even calmer than me. I mean, Veda has been shitting his pants all day and there you were, testing dishes for supper. Sometimes I think I should have recommended you for the role of leader. But then again, people would rather follow a scary-ass clown than a smart girl. Anyway, what’s the secret?” Thomas asked. “Well, as you already know, I had been working at the Golden Palace for a long time. So covering up intentions is not exactly new for me.” Amanda explained. Thomas didn’t reply. Amanda looked at him and smiled gently. He was almost asleep and his head was lying on Amanda’s breasts. “Wake up, dumbass. Get dressed and go to your own room.” Amanda whispered. Thomas got up in a flash, frightening Amanda. “Is that how you always get up?” Amanda asked, breathing rapidly. “I don’t know. I don’t actually remember how I wake up.” Thomas said, putting on his shirt. As soon as he was finished getting dressed, Thomas kissed Amanda good-night (lame ass couple thing), slowly opened the door and checked the hallway. “Is someone there?” Amanda asked from behind. “No, it’s clear. Bye, see you in the morning…” Thomas said and turned around. “JESUS-f*****g-CHRIST, get that thing out of my face!” Thomas almost jumped when he ran into Veda. “What thing?” Veda asked. “Your fa….” Thomas was about to say but he stopped. This was just a trap so that Veda could punch Thomas in the face. “My what?” Veda asked, clenching his fists. “Uhh….nothing. I was just referring to your stupid face, dumbass.” Thomas said. Veda was NOT ready for such a reversal. Surprisingly enough, he decided to ignore Thomas’ remark. “What were you doing in Amanda’s room so late?” Veda asked suspiciously. “Having s*x, you got a problem b***h?” Thomas said, trying to calm his adrenaline. “So you hold meetings and don’t even consider asking me?” Veda said. Thomas' reverse psychology worked perfectly on him. “Yes, because we were discussing the fake plan near Amanda’s phone. I don’t think that requires the prestigious, no strike that, gloriously stupid leader’s presence.” Thomas said and walked away. “By the way, what were YOU doing in the hallway so late at night?” Thomas asked, turning around. “I was going to the bathroom.” Veda answered simply. “There is a bathroom attached to your room, punk. Don’t bullshit me.” Thomas said, disgusted by the lame excuse. He was too sleepy to talk, so he went into his room without waiting for an answer.
