"Can we just...can we just get out of here for a bit?" I beg, "Please?"
"And go where?"
"Let's take the boys to Seattle. We can go Christmas shopping and go to some museums or something. Please? Can we just go? I need to get out of here for a bit." He looks at me vexed. I plead with my eyes and I see something shift in him.
"Okay, let me just make some calls for work. Go pack with the boys." I hug him and slowly walk towards the doors, trailing my hand up against the house for support. I turn and look at him as I walk back into the house and he is looking at the windows. He looks troubled. Something about him worries me. Maybe it's because we still haven't officially made up from last night. I hang my head and step through the threshold.
