The Raven pressed the Call button on his phone and held the device to his ear. The phone rang on the other end. A deep Israeli voice answered. “Identify,” the voice said.
“Raven.”
“Challenge: Enigma.”
“Response: Swallow.”
“Authenticate please.”
The Raven flipped to a different app on his phone, one used to digitally verify his identity. He held the phone’s camera close to his eye and waited while the app used the phone’s camera to scan his retina. Then the app sent a series of encrypted codes across the ether.
“Authentication verified,” the voice said. “Secure line. How can I direct your call?”
“Connect me to codename Vipera,” The Raven replied.
He heard a few clicks, then a digital pulse, and the call was forwarded. The phone rang a few more times before being answered.
