Chapter One : The Weight Of Desperation.
Looking at the half-finished painting in front of me, the vibrant colors mocking my current reality reminded me of being faced with financial challenges. But my passion for art wasn't encouraging and lucrative as more bills were piling up. The local galleries weren't interested in my work and the online sales were depressing. This led to my frustration thinking about what to do next. Each day I felt the noise tightening around my neck as desperation clawed at me. Although I needed money not just for myself but for my family who depended on me for survival. The pressure was unbearable, suffocating me with much debt. It was as if I was drawn in a sea and my art was my only tool to keep me afloat. That evening I knew I needed to clear my mind before my current situation may put me insane. I grabbed my coat and stepped out into the cool night air, hoping that work would bring some clarity. As I walked aimlessly through the city streets. My mind raced with thoughts of how to handle my financial woes. The city lights flashed into my eyes, I lost myself in my worries battling with my sight and creating a balance. But suddenly I collided with someone I had no idea of. “I'm so sorry”. I stammered, looking up to meet the piercing blue eyes of a stranger. He steadied me with a firm grip, his presence commanding and confident. “Oh! I mean no harm I know it was a mistake you don't need to be apologetic”. He replied with a charming smile that took me by surprise. “I’m Julian Blackwood and you?”. “Lily by the name". I responded as we both introduced ourselves. There was something about him that felt different and intriguing. We exchanged pleasantries. He saw my artwork and asked about it. It was strange how easily I found myself talking to him, opening up about my struggles Julian listened intently with a genuine interest. “You have a good art craft and I'm interested in your work". “Thank you, sir, it will be nice working with you". “You're welcome, although I'm in town for a business, my years of experience in the business have made me a successful entrepreneur”. I was overwhelmed by his diligence and the result of our conversation was brief, but his confidence and charm left a lasting impression. As we parted ways, he gave me an address, suggesting we meet again to discuss potential opportunities. Little did I know this chance encounter would change the course of my life. I went home feeling excited and overwhelmed, picturing myself as the next successful artist. My mother saw how happy I was. She couldn't concede her unspoken words, she stood for a moment before expressing herself. “What’s the good news all about? I have never seen you in this mood tell me what has happened”. "Mom, it's time, time to turn around”. "Turn around? What do you mean by that?”. She curiously asked. “I met a stranger on the street, A handsome businessman, he's not just a businessman but a successful one who saw my artwork and decided to grant me an opportunity". “Waw! This calls for a celebration". We both were all excited rejoicing concerning the new opportunity granted by Mr. Julian. The days after meeting Julian were a blur of excitement and anticipation. I couldn't get him out of my mind. When he called to invite me to a gallery event. I eagerly accepted hoping it would lead to something more. The event was grand, and filled with influential people. Julian was in his element, effortlessly charming everyone around him. When he saw me, his face lit up, and he introduced me to several important contacts. The night felt like a dream, with Julian by my side, showing genuine interest in my work and my life. “Thank you so much sir, you've done a lot for me". I expressed my gratitude but his reply left me in shock. “I have not started yet, this is just a curtain-raiser, with my influence in society I will make you one of the most successful artists in the world”. "Thank you so much, Sir, I appreciate it”. “Don't worry, just enjoy your drink, you will still meet more of my business associates". I sipped my drink, and a different flash dashing on me triggered my joy. As the evening wound down, we found ourselves alone, the chemistry between us was undeniable. We ended up at his penthouse, where our passion ignited like terrific wildfire. It was a night of intense connection and raw emotion unlike anything I would ever experience, he took advantage of me which resulted in a one-night stand. In the morning we parted ways without exchanging numbers, it was a bittersweet farewell that left me longing for more. As I walked down to my studio I couldn't shake the feeling that Julian was different, that this wasn't the end of our story. But still, life had to go on without him. When I arrived at my studio my mind reminded me of the harsh reality of my financial situation. The bills were still there and my family needed support. Despite the lingering night with Julian I had to focus on survival. I poured myself into my work hoping to create something that will finally sell. Days turned into weeks and my efforts seemed futile. One morning I felt a wave of nausea that wouldn't go away. At first, I dismissed it as stress, but it became more frequent. I had to visit the doctor to know the outcome. A trip to the doctor confirmed my fears- that I'm pregnant. The news hit me like a freight train. I was carrying Julian's child panic set in as I wrestled with what to do next. How could I raise a child in my current situation? And how would I ever find Julian to tell him?
