Holding the umbrella over both of us, he guided me toward the car, making sure I was safely inside before quickly rounding the front of the vehicle to get in himself.
The warmth from the heater immediately chased away the chill that had settled into my bones.
After fastening his seatbelt, Mark glanced at me with a smile. “Where to, ma’am?”
I rattled off Ryder’s address, making his head tilt slightly in surprise.
“You live quite far from the company.”
Explaining how I ended up living in Ryder’s residence wasn’t exactly a conversation I wanted to have, so I simply let the statement go unanswered.
