Rejected By My Mate

“Who is she?” The girl asked as she walked forward to stand intimately close to alpha Rick. I wanted to be the one standing close to him like that.

“She's no one important. Come on Sue, let's go eat somewhere else”, He answered and grabbed her hands. My heart twisted in anguish at their locked hands, I wanted to be the one to hold his hand like that. They both walked out of the hall leaving just me, Alpha Ralph and the other people who saw the scene.

“I don't want to hear a word about what just happened outside this house. Am I understood?” Alpha Ralph said.

“Yes Old Alpha”. Everybody except me chorused.

Alpha Ralph muttered irritatedly before walking away “This is absolutely ridiculous, what's the moon goddess trying to pull here?”

I fell to the ground hopelessly as tears trickled down my eyes in a downpour. My heart constricted painfully as if it was being squeezed out of life. The rejection replayed in my head over and over again, drawing tears from deepest part of my soul.

“Hiya! I warned this wretch not to make any mistake and she ended up ruining the whole dinner. Your punishment is going to be twice as big” I heard the fat kitchen supervisor run into the dining hall and say.

I saw Hailey through my tear-stained standing by the door and she shook her head in pity as if saying, “I told you not to incure the alpha's wrath” Everybody looked at me with pity, anger or nonchalance but no one came close…

Alas, I was all alone in the world, again.

It has been a week since I was rejected so brutally by alpha Rick. I was given the punishment to wash all the dirty dishes in the Alpha house for a week which was a lot but I didn't complain. I didn't even have the strength to complain when the pain of rejection was still fresh in my heart. And it provided me a quiet time from everyone else as I had refused to talk or eat anything even tho I was starving, I had no appetite at all.

I heard the door open, I knew who it was. It was Ruby, she was kind enough to bring food and drink for me everyday even when I don't eat it. She must have come to drop another for today.

“Fiona, how are you?” Ruby said in a hushed tone while looking around in fear like she was scared someone was watching her.

I didn't look at her and didn't answer, I just continued to wash the dishes. Her voice sounded concerned and a little anxious which touched my heart a little.

“I really feel sorry for you, Fiona. You must feel very bad to be rejected by the Alpha, but are you just going to sit here and sulk when… I'm not supposed to tell you this, if I get caught I… nevermind” she paused for a few seconds as if battling with if she should continue or not. This time I stopped working and turned to look at her because she sounded very anxious and alarmed. When she saw that she had my attention, she sighed and said, “You must hurry to the pack's townsquare, Alpha Rick chose Sue as his mate and is making Sue the Luna right now” she revealed.

What???

Before I could say anything, she took off and disappeared. My heart squeezed in pain as I remembered what she just told me. It was barely a week since he rejected me and he was already mating with another woman. The pain was just too much to bare, I immediately rushed out of the house to the townsquare. My body protested and my stomach growled in hunger because I was so weak from starvation but I ignored it and kept running as fast as I could. The townsquare was a large hall that was used for pack activities and right now it was full with people who was dressed beautifully and happily chatting about the coronation of the new Luna.

I managed to squeeze my way through the crowd and after struggling for minutes, I finally arrived at the front where the coronation was taking place. I saw Alpha Rick and Sue standing on the platform, dressed so regally and beaming with smiles at each other.

“By the power vested in me as the Alpha of Pale moon pack, I now pronounce you my mate and Luna of the Pale moon pack” Alpha Rick said in a loud voice, he took the crown by his side and was about to place it on Sue's head when I screamed out.

“STOP THIS CORONATION!” I said as I walked up to the platform.

The crowd turned eerily quiet in shock as all eyes turned to look at me. Even Alpha Rick and Sue had stopped to look at me.

“Someone dared to stop the Luna's coronation, is the person asking to die?”

“This girl, I know her. I think I saw her in the alpha house as a slave. She must have been sold recently”

“She's a wolfless omega and she dared to interrupt the coronation? What audacity!”

“What does she think she is doing stopping the coronation, has she finally gone mad?”

“She dared to interrupt the alpha, she is already done for”

…

The crowd burst out in commotion after overcoming their shock and everyone discussed aggressively. I blocked out their noise and faced the couple in front of me, tears stung my eyes but I refused to let it fall.

“Alpha Rick, I am your mate but you choose to make another woman the Luna. You are not being fair to me, I deserve to be Luna. It is my rightful place” I said as firm as I could muster.

“Mate? She's Alpha Rick's mate? Impossible”

“Such a worthless b***h, choosing to lie in front of the Alpha and everyone. Her days are numbered”

“She wants to be Luna? She wishes”

…

The people broke out in laughter and gossiped loudly, my heart broke at their comments but I refused to show any emotion. Instead I looked at Alpha Rick pleadingly for answers.

“Can you hear what everyone is saying you wretch? No one believes you and you want to Luna… pathetic” Sue spoke up and burst into laughter.

“I.. Alpha Rick you know the truth so why aren't you saying anything? Tell everyone here that we are mates. I am the fated Luna of this pack and that crown belongs to me. Tell them” I said, my voice thick with emotion.

“ENOUGH… not another word from you again. I brought you from another pack as a slave but you dared to bite the hands that fed you. Where are the guards? So any mentally unstable person can walk up here to disrupt the pack activities freely?” Alpha Rick eyes darkened as he roared angrily.

In a second I was surrounded by guards and was held down tightly like a criminal. “We are sorry, Alpha” The guards chorused.

“Oh poor mutt, you want to be my mate and pack's Luna. How delusional can you be? You don't even deserve to lick my feet b***h. You are nothing more than a mistake and you can never live up to Sue's image… disgusting” Alpha Rick spat out venomously. Hot tears dropped like a stream down my face to hear such hateful words come from my mate. Death felt like a luxury compared to what I felt at that moment

“Guards, take her away. She will be punished for disrupting the Luna's coronation” He added.

“No darling, let her watch me get crowned as Luna” Sue said with a smirk, her eyes darkened to a psychopathic shade.

Alpha Rick nodded and the guards stopped pulling me away. The coronation resumed again and I stood there and watched my place being taken by Sue. I thrashed wildly trying to free myself from the pack of strong arms but it was futile.

“No, please, don't do this… please” I begged in tears but it sounded like music to their ears. No one came up to help or speak up for me, it was me against the pack. I was alone, as always.

“By the power vested in me as the Alpha of Pale moon pack, I now pronounce you my mate and Luna of the Pale moon pack” Alpha Rick repeated with a wide smile as he grabbed the crown by his side and place it on Sue's head. While the crowd cheered and clapped in happiness, Sue stepped closer to Rick and placed a kiss on his lips which he returned without hesitation.

“All hail the Luna” The crowd cheered.

I welcomed the abyss that pulled at me as the guards took me away, I knew that my punishment awaited me when I gained consciousness but at this point… I cared less.
