Chapter 27 The headache I’d had yesterday morning had been bad, but that was nothing compared to this. I yelped and slapped a hand to my eyes, the gray dawn light coming through the window assailing my vision. Then I cautiously raised my hand again, holding it a few inches from my face. The light lanced through my fingers like daggers. I was seeing double—but the double was a blurry, darker version of my hand overlaying my own.
