My heart stalled .
The world that greeted me did not belong to some one like me .nIt was too polished and too perfect.
It was a completely new scenery. It was so advanced and looked compared to the slums where I have lived my whole almost twenty years until this day here.
Towering above me was a structure of pure glass and steel rising higher and higher until the top melted into the sky.The sunlight bounced off it's surface in sharp flashes almost blinding.
A sliver plaque gleamed at the entrance.

Kigongo?? That screamed Jed Kigongo.
My throat tightened painfully .So , this was where everything was supposed to begin.
Before I could fully take in the building b, a sharp tap landed on my shoulder making my startle a bit.
“ Will you ever be keen for just a single second.” Mr Jed's cold toned voice got me completely off guard. It slid through me like ice.
I turned around seeing him looking just like he was yesterday the first time I saw him. Tall , impeccably dressed and that expression that is unreadable.The only difference is that he had a small smile on his lips . It is something that was missing from his face completely yesterday. But there was something more to that face , It was sharper.
“ Good morning, sir.” I said quickly , forcing my voice to remain steady.
I would not let him intimidate me again, even though every cell in my body felt tensed in his presence. I didn't want to give him something he would use to his advantage against him.
He gave me a slow look over me before saying;
“ You look at least like a person compared to how you were yesterday.”
My jaw clenched ! Did he say I looked more of person than I looked yesterday? So what was I not him yesterday?
The words burned under my tongue , but I stayed silent . With him , silence is safer.
Again, I opened my mouth to say something but he interrupted me before I could say a single word.
He stepped closer, bending his head a little and then speaking mockingly
“ Oh!! I almost forgot .You are not with that boyfriend...I mean husband of yours.” He burst out laughing. His laugh was low and mocking .It was slicing through my patience. Heat rushed to my cheeks with embarrassment.
Anger was rushing through me that I wanted to snap back so that I could tell him that he didn't know anything about Ham or about us but I let it go.
He was the boss, I didn't want more trouble.
“ Look around, I think you can see the kind of place you are going to begin working.It is nothing like that filthy place that have been wasting your time in.”
I swallowed hard .
Did he call me here to lecture me or to show me work ? Anyway, I have nothing to do but to see where this was heading .
“ Boss, the meeting starts in five minutes,” I was rescued by a middle aged woman who came in smartly dressed in a black suit.Her voice was calm , professional and soft. Nothing like the boss at all.
Jed did not spare her a glance .
“ Show her her job descriptions.” he ordered ,cold as usual and moved away leaving me with the woman who just came . I guess this man was not just cold with me but rather with everyone else.
The moment he left,I felt my lungs finally exhale.It appeared like I had just been rescued from a gun point that I had been subjected to.
The middle aged woman flashed me a smile that warmed my heart ... at least this place had someone who had a human heart.
“ Hello, nice to meet you. I am Mackenzie.” she introduced herself gently extending her hand to me .
“ Arabella... though many people call me Bella." I said quickly shaking her hand
“ Wow, nice to meet you , Your name is lovely.
Her voice was so human . It felt so warm encountering another soft person after Ham.
“ I think I need to show you around and all the work that you are going to do ." She said nodding towards the entrance .
I followed closely behind here . The interior building was extremely beautiful and sophisticated.
The lobby was enormous as well. Soft golden lighting . People in sharp suits moving confidently as if this level of luxury was normal.
This was the most beautiful and intimidating sight I had ever seen in my life.
Mrs Mackenzie guided me from one floor to another ,her heels clicking softly against the polished floors.
Everything screamed “You don't belong here.”
However , I was still not certain about the exact work I am going to do. The only thing I knew, I was supposed to end in Jed's bed.
However I just choose to be patient and see where this was going to lead us to.
After showing me all around, it was time to tell me what I was to here.
“ I think it is time for you to know what you will do around here . ” She said when we settled down in what I assumed was her office.
“Yes,” I admitted quietly. At least, I felt free with her though I had just seen her not long ago..She was different and something about her drawn me towards her more.
“ The boss didn't exactly specify but he told me he knows what he is going to do when it comes to you.”
“ So ??” it left my mouth before I would stop it.
“ We are going to head to his office and you will have to wait for him to get done with his meeting and then he will meet you ."
My heart skipped . His office? Alone waiting for him?
With that, she led me towards the elevator and pressed the elevator button.
The elevator door slid open and we stepped inside . As we ascended , my stomach tightened more and more. Each floor number glowing brighter , higher and closer...towards the top floor ... towards Jed Kigongo.
I Couldn't help my heart pounding so fast in my chest like I was from participating in some Olympic games that had tired me out.
