Chapter 21 ~Calypso~ When we finished in the shower I peaked out of the door to see if there was a closet near by that I could borrow some clothes from. When I see the kitchen table has clothes set out for both me and my mate. We quickly changed and I head to the front door. I stop just before I turn the knob, and with out looking at my mate knowing he is right behind me I say "Don't think differently of me" and I open the door. Two men stood in front guarding the entrance. I recognize them as wolfs from Seraphine's pack. They were along side me the night I transformed. I addressed both of them with a nod, and they led the way. We approached the fire that lay in the middle of all the homes. It was low now, only embers that warmed the air. There waiting for me were 5 alphas, one being Seraphine and the rest men. They were all very loud and large. Their eyes shot towards us as we came closer. I could feel their authority that they tried to project over me, and as I approached I could see them look at me questioning my status. Full of doubt. Only one alpha. The only one that was sitting smiled at my presence. He was an old man. Very old. I look between the smirks of the other men and my beast is infuriated. Seraphine gives me a nod of encouragement as I challenge them. One begins to speak to Seraphine "We were told these matters were important, and this whole time, we have been waiting on a young she wolf?" Seraphine began to cower, but not at the men. My beast is furious. I can feel her trying to change my form. I walked up to the man that addressed me as a "she wolf". My mate tried to grab my arm, but I ripped it back. My beast takes control of my arm and reaches up to grab his throat. He returns the gesture and lifts me off the ground to his height. My beast grows into my full form and now I'm the one that towers over him. He immediately released his grip and let his body go limp in position. While the other men back off. It is rare for anyone to be in the presence of a Lycan. I look around at the Alpha's cowering only to see the old man still smiling at me. I can hear my mate take a step back behind me realizing what he had been blind to. I force my beast to let him go to regain my human form. Now getting the respect I deserve. I look between the Alpha's as they wait for my word. "I see I have kept you waiting" my beast leads "I assure you the information I have will be worth the wait" I glare at them to be seated. My mate is still standing beside me. I can feel his disbelief, his confusion, his worry, and fear. I look behind to catch his bewildered gaze. I have my arms beside me, but I open my palm calling him to my side. He approaches and slowly grabs my hand. With eyes asking permission. I contemplate how to go forward. I don't trust these men. "I look out at all of you here today, and I wonder if you are the beasts I need for this task. I assure you it is a path that may not lead you home" I look out to see their response. To see if there is a sliver of doubt in any of them, but none of the Alphas seemed phased by the mention of death. They remained silent waiting for me to proceed. "Our leader has fallen" I say, watching closely at their response. Trying to catch any reaction that would cause me not to trust them, and then go on "But she is alive" In a second they all began to speak at once questioning my words. When I see the older Alpha's eyes remaining glued on mine. I interrupt. "It doesn't matter what you believe" my words spit like acid. One of the men begins to speak. "I highly doubt what you are saying is the truth. If it was, why wouldn't you be addressing the royal guard" "I am the royal guard" my mate grumbles a response out of his clinched jaw towards the men that flinged disrespect at me. "I am bringing the attention to you, because Seraphine has vouched for each of you and nothing more. You have shown me nothing here today that makes me believe in you" My eyes narrow at the three Alpha's that project doubt. You can tell they do not like their honor to be in question. "And why should we believe you?" Another responds. I am tired of this and my beast wants to end it with one of their deaths. When the oldest Alpha speaks for the first time. "I believe you. I to shared a connection long ago with my brother" With this statement, my identity has been released. The psychic connection between twin wolf's is not a rare occurrence, and in the corner of my eye I see my mate looking down at me in disbelief. My gaze goes out to the alphas as each one submits to my status. "You were all chosen to be part of this mission, and I ask will you stand by my side?" The Alpha's look between each other when the oldest stands and bows his head. One by one, each Alpha does the same. "What is your plan?" Seraphine, responds.
