Finding Calypso

New Years Day

~Calypso~

I arranged for a private plane to take me to Atlantis on the first of the year. As I flew in the sky it was clear for most of the way. I saw the land change from green to snow. Endless snow. I have never seen so much in my life. It was so light, so bright it illuminated like I could have never have imagined.

The pilot notifies me we will be arriving soon.

When to my surprise out of the window I see the snow disappear. As we begin to fly over a place like no other.

Filled with so much life and water. Even being so high above, I could see how the trees towered and wove together where the branches touched. Alantis came up like a glistening diamond in the distance. The city was built like a circle surrounding a tall, almost pyramid like building that I recognized from a memory my sister showed me. And I knew that's where they would be today for my brothers expected coronation. The temple.

When we landed. The car I had arranged was waiting for me. I exited the plane and I was unexpectedly surprised how warm it was here at the top of the earth, and the air felt like it buzzed with magic.

A beast waiting outside approached me. He smelt like nothing I have ever come across. I had no idea what he could even be. He handed me the keys to the car, and I jumped in.

It was clear where I needed to go. To the temple, but something was drawing me in the other direction.

I was so nervous being in a place so unknown to me. Smelling of all sorts of beasts and not one human. I drove with my window down when I realized I was catching too many people's attention. My lycan scent was being noticed.

I decided to turn around and follow my gut that was pulling me in the opposite direction. Instead of going deeper into the city.

I drove to the edge of town. The pull in my heart was now so strong. I literally felt like it could pull me out of my seat. I didn't drive much farther when I found myself turning down a dirt road to an old abandoned house.

I recognize it like a dream.

The paint was peeled almost everywhere. Years of leaves covered the yard and porch. The door was open and I could sense someone was inside. I step out of the car and I see my sister come through the door arms crossed.

She doesn't seem happy to see me. I walk up the steps to her and she says

" I knew you would find me, but I didn't expect you yet" she smiled and reached in for a hug.

I expected to psychically connect with her immediately, but she still kept me blocked out. Preventing any psychic connection between us.

I try to convince myself she just doesn't want her mind to be clouded on such an important day, but my heart feels like it is something else.

"You look good" Rory says, addressing my new appearance.

We hardly look like twins any more. I was dressed in a short black dress with a slit to my hip. Black tall heels lined with razors, and a silver knife strapped to my thigh. My eye liner was heavy and it bounced against my bleach blonde hair. I came ready for battle.

"I just wanted to be here if you needed me" I say, when one of her eyebrows twitches up.

"Well, I'm happy you're here now. It won't be much longer" Rory responds as she turns to walk inside and I follow.

It was dusty inside. Leaves everywhere. A home stuck in time.

"What won't be much longer?" I ask.

"Our brother Magnus will be appointed as our new leader Today" she says, her face expressionless.

"And?" I say questioning her, but she doesn't respond.

"And that's what you want? For him to be king? " I ask.

"It is" Rory said, even though I knew it was a lie.

"I have left him something. A gift he will receive after he is appointed. And when he opens it, it will lead him here. To us." Rory goes on to say.

I look down a little mad, and I don't exactly know why.

"Rory, is there something you are hiding from me?"

She looks at me fiercely and convincingly says

"No!"

I pause before I say my next words.

"I don't know if I can see him again. I can never forgive Magnus for what he has done to me. To my mate."

She puts her hand on my shoulder and said

"I don't expect you too."

We sat on a dusty couch for a bit in silence. She laid her head on my shoulder, and I laid my head on top of hers. It was nice, it brings peace being together. After being separated for so long.

My whole life I never realized I was missing a piece. Missing my sister.

I don't know if I could have been like her. All these years knowing I was here. In secret. I don't know if I could have lived with that. I would have had to find her, but I know that her not coming for me, shows her strength.

"I wanted to find you" she says, breaking the silence, me now realizing she has been reading my mind this whole time.

"I don't know why our parents hid you, and I don't understand why things are the way they are." She says, and I know it means more than just our situation, but also referring to our brother Magnus and his betrayal.

"But I know now that we have found each other, we won't ever have to be apart again." Rory says, reassuring me with a vow of honesty.

" I imagine Magnus will be here soon" she says as she stands to her feet.

A few minutes later, a car drove up slowly. I could hear the gravel underneath the tires from inside and I look to Rory as she hears them too. We stay silent and wait to listen. When a car door opens.

"Rory" our brother, Magnus calls out. And we stay silent.

"Rory, it has been done. Please Come out" I could hear there was concern in our brother's voice. He seemed to be worried about her.

"Calypso?" I hear him call to me and anger floods my veins.

"Are you in there? Are you OK?" He asks.

And I glare at my sister with a look that says. Why the heck is he asking that? Like he would care. And then I roll my eyes.

I hear him in a quieter tone tell someone to get out of the car. When I hear another car door open. The air brings the scent to my nose and my eyes go wide and my legs turn to jello. I look at my sister and she says

"Don't" warning me not to leave.

I run for the open door and I stop under the arch way. It was him. It was Ambrose. He is alive!
