~Calypso~
After I calmed Anora down, she quickly fell back to sleep. She can't remember what she has been through, but I see her body is beyond exhausted. There are no signs she has been hurt or bitten. Only the rune that burns a fiery red on her chest.
I snuck away to talk to Loralie in private.
"What does this mean?" I asked her.
"It means he intends to change her. Take her into his coven, and he will have her. Caly, I can't stand against them. When he is ready for her, he will come." Loralie responds.
"Than I will stop him" I say, so sure of my words.
"No you won't. You can't, and I won't help you if you go against him. He is Dracula's brother. The oldest vampire I know that walks this earth. His coven rules this area, and every vampire in it. No one will help you. What's done is done." Loralie says.
It stays quiet for a moment before she goes on in a lighter tone
"and it's really not so bad. She will be given immortality. She will be able to be with you and Gretchen again. Isn't that what she wants?" Loralie tries to level with me.
"Anora will also be his slave!" I say pacing back and forth.
"When will he come?" I go on to ask.
"Well, usually when someone is marked with that rune, they are taken to Alacard as an offering. A sacrifice given to him by who ever laid it on her. As a show of loyalty, and a contribution to grow the coven. The few that manage to escape can't run for long. The rune calls to Alacard, and they are hunted like a game. By him and his three closest companions Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego."
~The Three Brothers~
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were once hebrew men. Brothers of Babylon. Fierce and powerful as humans, even more so as vampires. They refused to bow down to the King of their Land, and their defiance was noticed. Noticed by more than just the people. The King cast them into the fire for their disloyalty, and in the flames they found him.
Alacard admired their defiance, and decided to save the brothers. One by one Alacard changed them into beasts. Their flesh nearly burned off, unconscious, and on the edge of death he gave them a second chance. They turned even with the flames engulfed around them. Slowly their bodies began to heal, their flesh grew back, and together all four of them walked out. Creating the first Vampire coven in history.
~Calypso~
All night I stayed awake. Alone in the dark. Just trying plan my next moves. Trying to find a way to save Anora.
Anora lay there silently asleep in my bed. Occasionally shivering from the cold air coming in from the broken windows.
When I feel my beast alert me. Someone is coming. I turn around when a swift figure slides in through one of my windows. The lights were off so I couldn't see his face, but I could smell him.
"Caly?" it was James.
"James... How did you find me?" I ask, truly surprised.
He walks a bit closer, and the cool light coming in from the window shines on his face. His eyes looking down to the floor with a half grin across his lips. Because he can't help but to hide that he is happy to see me.
"I had told you I would never leave your side, and... I haven't." James said soft spoken, putting his hands in his jean pockets.
I nod silently.
"Why didn't you... " I trail off, not sure what I want to say to him.
I often imagined what it would be like to see him again. What I would feel, what I would say, and things are not going as expected.
A part of me, my beast is holding the pain of loss. Her other half is gone. Their fated bond broken by death, and he's never coming back.
And then there is my human half that is in love with James, and always has been. Not because fate chose it for her, but because she chose it for herself.
I thought I was in control of this internal battle, but right now my mind is proving me wrong.
"Why didn't I what? " James asks in a husky whisper.
"Why didn't you call, why didn't you just let me know you were here? That you were OK?" But before I could even finish my sentence, he walked up to me and grabbed my face. Lifting my lips to his softly touching them together. I couldn't help but to kiss him back. And again and again. Loosing control for just a moment before I pulled away.
"I came in because I've been listening. And I won't let them hurt you or Anora" James says, looking down into my eyes.
"And I know where they are, and when they will be coming." He says.
