What does life have in store, when the very person who brings you joy and tranquility turns out to be the most callous creature you’ve ever met?

Maria, bless her heart, has always had a tricky relationship with love. Just when she thought she had spotted a glimmer of it, it often turned out to be just a flicker—either a man who wasn’t serious or not quite ready to tie the knot.

Now, time wasn’t waiting for Maria. With her biological clock ticking away, the prospect of finding a husband seemed dimmer than ever. As the only child of her late mother, her dreams were simple: to have a family of her own and to do it the right way, in wedlock, thank you very much!

Fortune smiled upon her, however, as she stumbled across a young man brimming with potential, who seemed ready to settle down just as she had begun to lose hope. And, well, in the blink of an eye, they were married—together at last!

But, as fate would have it, little did she know that in signing the marriage certificate, she had unwittingly signed up for a set of troubles that could rival a soap opera. It was as if she had scribbled down her own death wish, though she hadn’t quite intended to.

Maria watched as her dreams began to crumble like a house of cards. Now, she faced a choice: either stand tall and fight for what she had worked so diligently to build, or fade quietly into the background, forgotten.

The ball was now firmly in her court, and it was time to play.

Divorce
If only I could reverse the hands of time and make the right decisions, my life wouldn't be this bad as it is now. One thing I understood, which was very late, was never to let depression get the better version of you, regardless of your circumstances and what people tend to say, always put yourself as the head and nothing more. Most people say love isn't for everyone. Well, that wasn't just a saying but a reality. I loved it without checking out the background. I was swept out of my fit by his attention and his desires for me that made my life shattered and deviated. I became a lonely, hatred and bitter lady, who saw no reason to enjoy the pleasure of the world and what it has to offer. Walking into the room after a strenuous day at work. As a lady with a high drive and love for her job, I don't see any reason why I won't go to work, except if I'm sick or probably in a girl's hangout. I slammed my bag on the table which was resting perfectly fine at the center of my sitting room, pulled off my shoes right in front of the door before making an attempt into the room. Why would someone keep wearing heels as though their life depends on them? Well, that is because most dresses I used to work in are corporate and require the need to put on heels. I dropped into my soft and comfy couch that could ease off some stress after work. Most times I enjoy sleeping in it due to its cozy and soft nature. In fact, it is worth the amount spent on it. Furnishing my apartment to my taste was one of the joys of my money, because tell me the reason why you leave for work and return to a very dirty environment as a home. My housemaid was indeed doing the job she was paid for, with the whole place sparkling pure and clean. I took off my jacket to get enough air, just then something caught my attention. It was a white envelope on my table, who could have left it there without prior notice. “Jane, do you have an idea who left this envelope here,” I asked. “Yes ma,” your husband dropped by after you left for work and asked that this envelope be given to you. “Oh, I see, alright, please get me a glass of water with some ice in it. Yes ma, she said as she walked into the thin air, and within some minutes she was back with my requirements and placed it on the table carefully. “Here is your water, ma,” she said with a smile von her face. “Thank you, my dear,” Jane, who has been working with me for quite a period of time, has been the best housemaid and agency has given to me. She is a happy and lovely soul who enjoys every bit of her work without complaining and always cheerful. Most times, whenever I'm alone, we have conversations and I would say her level of knowledge is quite high for a housemaid. Well Well Well I am married. Yes, I know you are surprised, but I am. It hasn't been easy, but I could say I'm giving in my best as far as I'm concerned. After sipping the water down my throat, I could feel a little bit of life back to my remaining life. I felt fresh, and the AC could properly condense through my skin to cool off my internal body temperature. I reached out for the letter on the table. At first, I was concerned, because he would have sent me a message instead of a letter. Who writes letters in this present generation? Don't quote me wrong, I mean who uses letters to communicate when you can do just that with the help of your cell phone, which has made everything about life easier and more fun. I hesitated a little bit, but the curiosity of knowing the contents of the letter got me opening it already. What! This can't be true! A divorce letter, issued by the lawyer. I reached out for my bag with my hand trembling, as though I had seen a Ghost. Indeed, this information in my hand is more than seeing a Ghost. I dialed his number. Almost immediately, my hand touched my phone, waiting for his reply was like hell working into the heavens to seek out their differences. “Hello, I'm busy. Let me call you back later. He dropped the call without a response from me. Oh no, what have you done? Why is he serving me a divorce out of nowhere? We left the house this morning on good terms, and now he is here to serve me a divorce. I felt my world crumbling on my face, a life I had built for years was coming to an end without a single rethink. A life I worked so hard, with everything I could offer, was coming to an end. Interesting! How things end so easily without recounting what was it in place to make it work out. The whole building felt hot, I could feel the vapor of heat coming from the kitchen, which was quite a distance from my sitting room. The AC immediately stopped working. I was sweating profusely with my whole clothes soaked in sweat. Oh mum, please don't let this happen to me. I have gone through alot, and I'm not ready to go through a hate break again, not now when everyone was happy that I was married. My stepmother wouldn't even spare me a word, and she would make sure she rubbed everything into me, claiming it was all my fault and the rest. Just as I was pacing from one end of my sitting room to the other waiting for his call, he walked in and went straight to the seat on my sofa. I felt a chill running through my spine and all the nerves in my body's systems activated ready to beg him not to leave me, not now, not ever. Babe, I'm sorry if I did something you don't like. I promise to change and promise to look out for the family. I promise to work on my body shape and become that sexy and classic woman you have always wanted. I promise.. Without waiting for me to drop the last statement, he cut me off. Stop all these promises when you don't listen to me. That's why I thought it was best to end everything so you can bear your father's name in peace and have no one control you. I'm ready to change. I will do anything and everything you want me to do, but please don't let us have this divorce, at least for the sake of our child. Dammam That is the problem exactly. He said as he stared angrily at me with every atom of hatred in him.
