Serenity's family had been killed long ago by werewolves. She has spent the last ten years training and preparing to wipe them out with the help of the vampire who rescued her by her side, stoking her fire. With the aid of witches and some stupid rogues, they almost have the numbers to take over. They just need the help of the warriors from the Demon Moon Pack-the strongest warriors in North America. After that her revenge will be complete.

Unless she falls for the greatest warrior of all...

“You’re human.” He stated. She nodded.

“Why are you here?” She asked, though she knew the answer. Still, if he knew she was human perhaps she could play the ignorance card. She just needed him to leave her alone.

“I could ask you the same question.” His voice was so deep and husky. It matched his hard expression. “I did not know humans were part of the council.”

“I’m the only one.” She wasn’t sure what else to say. For the first time since she was a child she was lost. Lost in his eyes and voice, and the way she could feel the heat radiating off his large chest.

“What’s your name?” This time his voice sounded breathless, like he was holding something back that just wanted to escape.

“Serenity Walker. Yours?” She gave her full name, knowing what to do once he gave his.

“Damien Mitchell.”

“Well. I Serenity Walker, member of the council, reject you-,” She couldn’t get another word out when a grown ripped through his lips and made his chest vibrate. Before she could get over her shock, he had grabbed one arm and put his other hand on the side of her face. It was so fast, at first, she thought he meant to slap her, but his touch was so soft as he pulled her face closer to hers.

“You. Are. Mine!"

Prologue
As soon as all eyes were on the group at the end of room, Serenity took the chance to make an escape through the still open doors. She felt as though she had been dropped into a boiling pot after running ten miles. Her thoughts were a jumbled mess, all she could really think about was getting as far away as possible. Maybe she should go to a different state. She could tell Vladimir she wanted to scout some other packs.   Servants eyed her suspiciously as she rushed through the hall and out the front doors of the mansion. No doubt at least one had already contacted Vladimir to tell him about her not obeying his orders to the letter, but now she just had to get away. Everything in her told her to go back to that room. To walk right up to him, wrap her arms around his neck and let him take her. His arms would absolutely surround her like a large warm blanket and press her into those muscles his suit had done nothing to hide. She could snuggle into his neck and smell his essence as he rubbed her hair and let his free hand explore every inch of her…   Stop it! She screamed internally. What is wrong with me!?   He’s just a dog, he has nothing to do with me. He is the enemy.   Without meaning to she ended up on the same dune she had stopped at the night before. She still remembered Vladimir’s promise.   “We will wipe them all out.” He had promised. He had promised that for so many years, and things were finally about to happen. The council was almost ready, and she would be at the head of that army, nothing could change that. She would kill the very last werewolf with her bare hands if that’s what it took to take revenge for her family.   Serenity gazed longingly into the waters, still dark, but twice as angry tonight. She let her thoughts run on, thinking of her family, thinking of her long-lost life and home. Without realizing it the waters came right up and began licking at her feet, getting ready to swallow her into them completely.   Without warning she looked a little higher than the waters and saw the moon gazing down at her. The bright white seemed like a flashlight, searching for her. If she looked hard enough, she almost thought she could see a woman’s face in its disk. The woman was lovely and had a warm, motherly smile that she bestowed on Serenity as if to say, “I’ve been looking for you, but you’re safe now.”   A sudden shuffle on the sand startled Serenity and she reached for the knife she suddenly remembered wasn’t there tonight. Damn dresses with no spare room.   As she twirled to meet her attacker her body got warm again and her head went dizzy. She could smell him over the ocean, like a forest filled with vanilla and lavender. A good mix of musk and comfort. She hated it and loved it at the same time. She just wanted to bathe in that scent for the rest of her life and sink into the comfort it promised.   She gritted her teeth when she saw him. He was impossible to miss, even with a black jacket and shaggy, wavy dark hair he stood out from the darkness that surrounded him. It was like the night parted for him, afraid to get to close because he could tear down anything that stood in his way. He caught her eye and she saw that his were a golden silver for the split second before they became dark. She knew that look; she had seen it sometimes when the rogues found their mates.   “Stop.” She said when she saw he had no signs of staying away from her. His long steps threatened to walk right over her. He ignored her for the most part. They stood toe to toe and she hated that she had to lean back slightly to see his face. He didn’t touch her though and she was thankful for that. She wasn’t sure she could hold back at that point and wondered how comfortable a sandy make out session could be. She fought back an excited shiver. She hated herself for her weakness. “I did not know humans were part of the council.”   “I’m the only one.” She wasn’t sure what else to say. For the first time since she was a child she was lost. Yours?” She gave her full name, knowing what to do once he gave his.   “Damien Mitchell.”   “Well. I Serenity Walker, member of the council, reject you-,” She couldn’t get another word out when a growl ripped through his lips and made his chest vibrate. Before she could get over her shock, he had grabbed one arm and put his other hand on the side of her face. It was so fast, at first, she thought he meant to slap her, but his touch was so soft as he pulled her face closer to hers.   “You. Are. Not. Leaving. Me.” Their eyes met, and she could see the pain and anger radiating into her soul. “I have waited too long to find you, and I don’t care if I have to drag you out of this place and keep you tied up forever, I will not lose you. You are my mate.” The last words were muttered with his lips already pressing into hers harshly. He began to bite her lower lip; demanding entrance and it took all her willpower not to give it. With another growl he moved his arm from hers to around her waist, lifting her up so he didn’t have to stoop. The move surprised her, and when she thought she would fall she wrapped her legs around his waist. When she did this, she loosened her lips the slightest bit and that was all he needed.  He thrust his tongue into her mouth and explored every inch voraciously. Between her legs she could feel his member growing, pressing into her precious spot through his pants and the desire from him made the blood rush to her face, while she felt another warmth in that same spot between her own legs.   She was quickly breathless and tried to push him away, while being aware that if he let her go to quickly, she would likely fall. He ignored her hands on his chest as if a butterfly were trying to push him and only moaned into her mouth. After what seemed like an eternity he pulled back, but he kept both his hands where they were supporting her. She realized what a strange position she was in. Both legs tightly around him, both his hands on her ass. Her cheeks felt overwhelmingly hot, and she gulped in the night air.   Damien didn’t let her down, only laid his forehead on hers and gazed into her eyes. She could see the resolution in his eyes and knew his words before were true. He would never let her go. Her mind said that this was a disaster, but some part of her loved that he seemed so desperate for her. No one had ever been like this towards her and she felt a desire that it last as long as possible.   “Ah there you are. Beta Damien, I am delighted to say Alpha Peter has graciously decided to spend the night at the mansion. If you come with me now, I’ll be happy to show you to your room.” A satin voice startled the couple, coming out of nowhere from somewhere behind Damien. The familiar chill settled onto Serenity. She couldn’t believe her weakness the moment before and now the worst thing that could have happened did. Vladimir had found her.   Damien finally loosened his hold, and she was able to gracefully put her feet back on the ground, but he did not move his hands from her waist. Serenity made a quick move to step away but his hand hardened and kept her in place, pressed against his side. She repressed a groan. This was a nightmare.   Vladimir was indeed on the dune, and his red eyes took in every movement between the two in front of him with a hunter’s precision. He hadn’t fed in over twenty-four hours, so the brightness in his eyes worried Serenity to no end. He was angry. And she would be on the receiving end of that wrath. She couldn’t meet his eye and only stared at the ground right before his feet.   “Thank you, but I thought I’d continue my stroll on the beach. The view is quite breathtaking.” If Damien’s words had been visible, they would have been as crisp as a frozen blade of grass.   “It is, but I must insist I’m afraid. There are many vampires out tonight, and though you are protected by the council, mistakes happen, unfortunately.” Vlad’s voice may have been barely louder than the waves, but the threat in them was louder than a cannon.   Damien hesitated for a second, but then grabbed Serenity’s hand and nodded at Vladimir to lead them back. Serenity saw Vlad’s piercing red eyes lock onto her hand in Damien’s and tried to pull away, causing Damien to clench harder.   Vlad turned on his heel without a word and walked the two back to the mansion in silence. In the split second it took for Damien to turn so she could go in the front door first she used the opportunity to yank a little harder and free her hand. She didn’t dare look at his face, and instead turned to see Vlad glaring at her. She was in a lot of trouble and she knew it.   She could understand why Vlad was angry, but she also knew that none of this was her fault. When a servant approached and offered to show Damien to his room, she gave him a slight nod, and hoped that she could put enough of a pleading look in her eyes that he would follow the servant and leave her alone. He sighed, but somehow seemed to get the message and followed the servant up the stairs, though he kept looking back at her like every step was torturing him. When his disappeared up the second flight she finally let herself take a breath of air before the storm she knew was coming.   To her surprise Vlad led her to his study before laying into her. She supposed he was paranoid the wolf would come back downstairs and hear something he shouldn’t. She stood before his desk as he closed and locked the door. She kept her eyes down and her hands folded, feeling like the child she had been so many years ago, when he had brought her to this very room to tell her about her new life and expectations.   Vlad sat in his chair and leaned back, studying her closely. He pressed his long fingers together in front of his face. To anyone who didn’t know him he might have looked calm. Like a scholar who had a lot of essays to get through. Serenity knew better. He was raging.   “I see your loyalty has changed. After all these years I suppose it’s natural that your love for your family has waned.” His voice was low but threatening.   “My loyalty and desires have not changed at all. I tried to reject him. He means nothing to me.” Serenity kept her voice even. She knew that if she showed the slightest interest in this conversation Vlad would take it as a sign of weakness. With this new development she knew that she was in danger if Vlad felt she was no longer useful. She didn’t blame him, but how dare he think that one kiss on the beach would make her forget her family.   “See to it that remains true.” He let his hands rest on his desk for a moment before tapping them, as though in thought. “I know how to use this to our advantage though. If you can remain focused, this could be a good thing.”   Serenity knew any advantage would be needed, and she allowed a small grin to form. “Anything it takes…to wipe those mongrels from the face of the earth.”
