"Anyone else?"
"No," De Vile replied, stiffly. He obviously didn't like how Kova was speaking to him in front of anyone but could anybody blame Vance with the De Vile was being ridiculous.
"Shall we begin then?" Kova asked.
"What about your daughter? I don't see her anywhere. You promised she would be here." De Vile out, pointing to the empty chair beside Kova. "Isn't she the main purpose for the meeting? Why isn't she here?!"
Vance felt himself shrink even more. One would think after all the years he had lived his father would have grown some manners but Nah, the older he got the worse he got. He never thought whenever he was in public, he was always inappropriate as one couldn't imagine.
Vance had forgotten how bad it was because they only ever had meetings with people in their clan and everybody was used to the Primus. However, now that he was out in public he could remember just how awful it was.
If Selene did end up attending this meeting her hatred for Blackwood was certainly going up a notch. She would not want to have anything to do with them, so he prayed again that she would be stubborn and not show up.
There was an awkward silence as De Vile went on his awkward rant. Even he noticed that towards the end his voice started to shrink. When he was done, nobody said a word for the longest time.
However, De Vile wasn't done and he wanted to dig himself into an even deeper hole. He laughed, his laugh didn't have its usual edge but it didn't stop him. When he stopped laughing, he immediately started to speak.
"Don't tell me, you do not have any control over your own daughter after saying you would make sure she…"
Vance could not take it anymore, he did not realize when he did it until his father yelled out in pain. He had stomped on his father's foot with all of his might. His father yelped slightly and his eyes widened. He turned around to look at Vance and Vance did not regret his decision.
"Shall we begin the meeting, then?" It was Gualterio who spoke, he was glaring at De Vile. At that moment Vance would have kissed the old man for choosing to speak. He was the only person his blockhead father listened to.
De Vile brought his head down and answered, "Yeah, yeah."
Vance tried not to snicker, he could tell his father was sulking and he didn't feel an ounce of remorse for what was happening to his father. It happened too often you would think he would take a note of his bad character, Nah he was worse each time.
Vance always found it hard to believe it was the same composed man he barely spoke except when absolutely necessary. His home character was completely different from the monstrosity he was staring at right now.
"Let the meeting begin," Athan announced and everybody adjusted, some sat upright while others got more comfortable.
"We do know the main purpose of this meeting." Kova started, he clasped his hands together and rested them on the table. He didn't lean forward or move so much, just placed his hands on the table.
Everybody nodded in response except De Vile, of course, nobody cared as long as he did not speak he could be as nonchalant as he wanted to be.
"They are getting out of hand and nobody can estimate their exact amount. Not to mention the fact that they had an endless amount of human support. They have not done anything yet but I don't think they will remain quiet for very long." Kova said.
"We still have not been able to get information on who their said leader is but I never thought I would see the day Vampires would ask humans to fight their war." He scoffed. De Vile was not impressed by the new opposition but he knew better than to ignore them for too long, they may prove to be a far worse threat if left to grow any further.
Vance nodded, they all did, De Vile was not a bad Primus. Neither did he not know the right steps to take, he was just really bad at social gatherings and tended to voice out everything he thought.
"What do we do about them?" One of the advisers asked.
"Does that mean the peace treaty is on?" De Vile asked.
Kova frowned, "The fact that you even had to ask makes this very disturbing. Trust me, if I still wanted you dead, you wouldn't have made it past the gate."
De Vile laughed, "I can't believe I got peace instead. I would have loved to see you try but that's besides the point, I suggest we…"
