CHAPTER NINE

"What are you thinking about?" He suddenly asked, interrupting her thoughts. "Aren't you curious?" She giggled. "Well, only because you seemed so worried, I couldn't help but ask questions." He replied smugly. She smacked his arm and sank further into his embrace. "You must be seeing things," she muttered but she smiled as she spoke and Vance wrapped his hands around her tighter. They sat in the water for a little while before Vance asked, "Are you ready to get out now?" "Hmm," she murmured and shook her body. "I'm not sure, this is just so comfy." "I know but I assure you it is even more comfy in my bed." He whispered in her ears. She chuckled, "Just say you want to get me into your bed." "Well, your words, not mine. Besides, I'm sure I don't need such underhanded tactics to get you to go to bed with me." "What?" She gasped and turned her head to look at him. He shrugged and smacked his hand before standing out of the water. She did so with so much force some spilled out. He followed after her but got out of the bath first and grabbed a towel which he used to wrap around her. "Aren't you going to dry off?" She asked, noticing there was no other towel. "You come first," he smirked and then pulled out a towel from the corner where her eyes couldn't reach. He saw her eyes widened and his smile did the same. He quickly dried himself and returned the towel. Selene was out of the bathtub now drying herself, she was a little bent as she tried to dry her legs while Vance stood bare watching her closely. She was sure now that this was a habit. Walking around bare was something he did very often. She stood upright and was about to wrap herself with the towel but he pulled it out of her grasp and tossed it. It was a little unexpected, so she was slow to react and could only stare in shock as she watched the towel fly off. The next thing she knew, she was in his arms and he was leading her out of the bathroom. "You know I can walk right?" She scolded, glaring daggers at him. "Yeah but you gotta admit, this is more fun." He winked and Selene thought his eyes shone. "Do you always get what you want?" She asked, raising a brow at him. "I believe, yes. I mean you're still in my arms, aren't you?" His arrogance and smug look was driving her nuts but she couldn't deny that it was nice to be held. She scoffed and said, "Not for long though." He didn't smile, "I guess we'll see about that." He carefully placed her on his bed, she could tell it was his, his scent was all over it. The sheets were soft and she rolled to her front as she literally sank into the bed. "Oh gosh!" She groaned. He laughed and covered her with the duvet. "One of the reasons I never get out of bed. He didn't go to the other side. Just slid in with her and wrapped his hands around her. The sheets were white but his room was painted in what she hoped was grey, she wasn't sure. If it was really dark, she usually just saw in shades of black and white and the walls looked dark but not too dark so it was safe to assume grey. With his arms wrapped around, Selene began to feel how tired she really was, coupled with how soft the bed was. The chance of her dozing off was pretty high. She could already feel how tired she was from the bath and even though she was pretty active at night, there was only so much her body could take. She sighed and felt Vance bury his face on her hair and took a deep breath. "What are you doing?" She asked. "Recording your scent," he replied, his face still buried in her hair so the words came out a little muffled. "I thought you already did that," she replied, pouting a little. Vance laughed as he immediately understood, she was referring to the incident in the kitchen where he buried his head somewhere else. "Well, I can do that again if you would prefer that instead. Of course, that would be more fun." She laughed but she knew he was serious. She could already smell his arousal if she wanted to ignore what was poking her back. She wouldn't mind going again but she feared by the time she was done, she wouldn't be able to move at all. "I'm sure but it's pretty late." "Only because I can tell you can barely keep your eyes open. Besides, three isn't pretty late." "Three?" She asked in horror, jerking around to look at him. "Yeah, do you have something planned for the morning?" He asked, slightly worried. "Not really but three is pretty late." "Wow! I never expected to hear those words from a vampire. We used to rule the night, you know." He teased her but could barely hide his relief that she wouldn't be gone at first light. "We still do but now we rule the day too and some of us had a hectic day." She mumbled and yawned. Her voice had dropped down a notch. "Ah I see, I guess I should let you get some rest." He replied. "Hmm," she muttered and her eyes fell closed. It was a well-needed sleep considering she could not remember the last time she slept in anybody's arms. Decades maybe, she still couldn't figure out why she was indulging him and going along with this but her body wasn't complaining. She hated to admit that she liked this but truly she wouldn't mind doing it again, just to confirm. It wasn't anything serious but she felt utterly relaxed and she couldn't remember the last time something like that or this happened. Her body slowly began to shut down and it sounded like Vance was speaking some more but she couldn't hear a single word as she slowly zoned out.
