Selene started her car engine, it gave a little revving sound before it immediately picked up. She blew air out loudly out of her lips before slowly driving out of the garage. She pressed the button that closed the garage, she gave her house a last look before she drove off.
Where she was headed was about a ten minutes drive, there wasn't enough time to mentally prepare herself for the confrontation that was coming up during the drive so she had to make sure she was mentally prepared before she left the house.
From the garage, she drove to her street road which quickly led her to the highway. Her father had not wanted her to live far away, if it was up to him she would be living in the mansion with him but she hated people in her business.
Half the time, she preferred to be by herself. The mansion would completely defeat that purpose. Considering it was filled with everybody. She sighed. Maybe everybody was a very huge exaggeration but it was more than enough people to annoy her.
She drove into her father's street and even before she got to the gate, the huge gate flung open to reveal a huge space. She rolled her eyes, she never could understand the need for these elaborate things.
Trees decorated the sides of the path as she drove. Flowers and even statues. She rolled her eyes as she drove, ignoring them. It took almost a full three minutes to get to the mansion, that's how much space there was.
She parked haphazardly and left the key in the engine. A staff would attend to it. It was faster than having to drive all the way to the parking lot and then walking back to the mansion.
She got out of the car biting the insides of her cheeks just as a staff appeared by her side. "Princess," he bowed.
"Manuel," she muttered, darkly. She hated pleasantries and she could tell that was forthcoming.
"Happy to have you grace us with your presence." He replied still bowing, somehow his hand had made it to the door and he was now holding it open.
She squinted her eyes, "You see me almost every week, Manuel. I wouldn't exactly call this gracing you with my presence." She scoffed and started walking away.
"Nonetheless, it is still an honor to be in your presence."
"Yeah, yeah." She muttered as she got to the huge doors and pushed them open. Normally, someone was already there to open it but she beat them to it. She wasn't sure if Manuel was usually hitting on her or he was just doing his job however, both options creeped her out.
"Selene," a maid gasped as if surprised by her presence.
Finally, somebody that listened when she gave orders. "Pam! Where is my father?"
"In his study," the poor maid returned, keeping her head down.
"Okay," she muttered without a second glance and rang up the closest stairs two at a time.
The main entrance led to a huge space which led into different rooms. It was one of the only rooms that led into different other ones instead of just the exit if one didn't count the secret doors.
There were two huge staircases that connected at the top but each led to the same area. The staircase she had chosen was the left one and she took two at a time as she rushed to her father's study.
She arrived at the door in no time. She immediately turned the knob and pushed it open without much thought. She must have pushed it too hard for the door slipped from her grip and hit the nearest wall with a loud bang.
Her father and his lawyer jerked up at the sound, surprised. It was definitely at the sound of the door hitting the wall because she was certain they could sense her even before she walked into the mansion.
"Selene!" Her father yelled and broke into a smile. Cedric took a step back as he had been beside her father with his head bent as they had been studying a document together.
"Spare me the pleasantries, I am not happy to see you." She said coldly and her father's smile fell.
"That would be all, Cedric. We will go through the rest of the documents some other time." Kova said and his lips pulled into a thin line. "Even if you say otherwise Selene, I am quite happy to see you." Her father said to her, keeping his gaze on her.
She didn't say anything but rather watched Cedric as he nodded and cleared the desk. He was done in seconds and bowed to both her and her father as he made his way out of the study, taking the documents with him. She glared at him as she watched him walk out.
"Your anger is with me," Her father started to speak and she turned her attention to him. "So, save your glares for me." He adjusted in his seat and pointed towards the opposite chair as an indication for her to sit on it.
"Ah! Anger you say?" She asked and approached the seat. "I think you are underestimating how I feel, wouldn't you agree father?" She went around the table and glared at him. The chair made a scraping sound as she moved it out of the way. She slammed her hand against the table but not hard enough to cause a loud noise.
"No, of course not my daughter. I wouldn't dare underestimate your feelings about this." He replied, returning her intense gaze.
"Then explain to me why such a horrendous decision was made at my expense." She asked, fuming.
She knew she was furious but she didn't realize how furious she was. A part of her was secretly hoping her father would say it was a joke and that would be the end of this.
Things would return to planning to end the Blackwood not form an alliance with them with her as a trophy wife. The thought irritated her further. How could they do this to her? How could her father do this?
"You smell nice, did you change your perfume?" Her father asked with a knowing smile. His gaze on her did not waver.
"What?!" Her expression was one of horror as she stared at the man that birthed her.
