"How long?" She suddenly muttered.
"How long what?" He asked.
"Don't play dumb with me, it won't exactly work in your favor." She yelled.
"Since the first night," he said softly.
"If you're joking, it is not a very funny joke."
"I wish I was," Vance really did wish he was and he had not wanted it to turn out like this that was why he had asked for more time but he didn't need anyone to tell him, he was not going to have that and by the looks of things time might not be the only thing he had run out of, his luck was also dwindling.
"Unmark me," he read her lips even before he heard the words.
"Unmark me," she repeated. "This instant!"
Vance could not do that and he doubted she wanted to hear that he could not. He looked up at her, wondering how he would phrase the words so she wouldn't hit him because he was about to tell her an answer she would not like. He was surprised that she had not done that yet.
She looked like she wanted to hit him so badly and now that he thought about it, he would most definitely let her hit him. It was bad enough that he deceived her and now his father embarrassed her. It was like a spiral of horrible things, he couldn't begin to comprehend how she felt.
Literally everyone had betrayed her, from the people of her own clan to his. He felt bad and it had not been his intention to trick her. Truthfully, he had only gone to the club to check her out, have a conversation. He had not been sure if he would like her or not and then he had.
"I can't do that," he sighed.
She frowned, "What do you mean?" Her brows dipped and he wanted to brush the worry lines away. He shook his head, now was not the time to think in that direction, it also didn't help that he was the reason for the worry lines.
"I don't know how to," he explained.
She frowned some more, "Are you saying there is no way to?"
"No, not that. I just don't know how to." He explained further.
"Ha, isn't that convenient? Somehow you don't know how to unmark but you're great at marking. Wonderful, just wonderful!" She mocked, rolling her eyes at him.
"I promise, I am not messing around. That's the truth." Vance spoke out before he could help himself.
She laughed long and hard, "Can you listen to yourself? I just found out you are the son of De Vile Blackwood, not just anyone but the Primus son of the Blackwood clan and somehow you think I would believe anything else that would come out of your mouth." She paused and laughed some more. "You must be delusional!"
Vance froze, he could smell something, it was blood. He had not paid attention but his senses had been elsewhere but that he was this close the smell was slightly noticeable. It was not anything strong but knew exactly what she smelt like so he could pretty much tell when something was wrong.
