"Boss," he heard T call him through the speaker.
"Yes, T! What's up?" Jason asked T sounded agitated.
"She's here," he muttered.
"What?" He yelled and jumped on his feet.
"She's here, her car should be in front of the house in less than three seconds."
T was right because he wasn't done with his words when Jason heard a call pull up in front of the house and the engine immediately stopped running.
"She's here," he whispered to the rest of them. There was no need to say this as her car had been loud enough for all of them to hear but he did not want to take that chance just in case for some dumb reason they misinterpreted the message.
He doubted Ray would do that but Milo was a sure case. Just when he thought it was pretty obvious Milo always found a way to blow his mind at how dumb Milo really was.
What was she doing here so early, he thought as he moved closer to the front door. By estimation, he was supposed to have at least one more hour before she was likely to show up.
The unexpectancy of her return was troubling. Was the meeting canceled? If it was, that was great news but he did not have any time to celebrate as it was time to get to work.
The worst part was he could tell he had barely a minute to get things in place before she burst through the door. "Milo, I need you to stay behind the door."
He needed to give even more specific instructions but there was barely any time. He could already hear her climbing up the stairs, her footsteps were light and would normally not be heard but since he was desperate, his senses were working overtime.
Thankfully, Milo obeyed immediately. Moving skillfully over the carpet without saying any word. While Ray moved slightly forward and he stood in the middle. They were not the least bit ready but he would have to make do.
He heard the first click and he knew all they had left was a second. He could feel his heart in his throat as any misstep now and she could flee before she made it into the house. He could not let that happen, they would never get any chance better than this, f**k ups weren't allowed.
She pushed open the door and Jason froze, his body was moving as his eyes stared in awe and fear. His chest constricted and it suddenly felt hard to breathe. f**k! He yelled in his head. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity, how dare his body fail him now?
Was this because he was human? It didn't make any sense. He had completely prepared his mind and soul for this encounter. Why were things not going his way?
Jason felt his eyes water, however, his frustrations were dissipated in a mere two seconds. He would know because the only thing he had been able to do was count.
