Vance could only stare as he watched her leave, wondering if he could have done things differently. She had given him an audience, yes but he had not been able to say anything useful to plead his cause. He doubted she would ever give him a chance like that.
There was also the problem that he didn't know exactly what he was pleading for. More s*x, some more time together, it wasn't exactly that but one thing was sure, he didn't want her to hate him.
He didn't move from the spot he was standing until she was completely out of sight and out of the compound. All he could do was stand as she drove out of the gate, he could try to stop her but he knew she would not want that, and even if he tried what would he say to her?
A part of him was worried though, he was certain he had smelt her blood but had not been able to pinpoint it. For all, he knew it could be her smell clouding his thoughts as he was this close to her but he wondered if it was something he should be worried about.
She had looked fine, so he knew she wasn't bleeding or anything but he was pretty certain he had smelt blood but as he thought about it some more, he began to wonder if he had really smelt it or he had been looking for some distraction.
After she left through the gates, it took a while before he could uproot himself from where he stood. It was the whispering from the guards that alerted him that he was just standing and staring.
Glad that he was out of the trance, he slowly made his way inside. He was furious at his father. A part of him didn't want to return to the meeting but he knew how crucial it was and he was certain they were all waiting for him to come back.
He didn't rush, he needed them to suffer in silence. Well, it was not like he was bringing any good news but just because it was bad news did not mean they deserve to hear it faster.
The guards at the main entrance wasted no time in opening the door for him. Still, his pace didn't change, his thoughts froze and all he did was count the steps he took.
He got to the door of the meeting room and felt himself sigh, he didn't want to do this. He wanted to go home and take a nap with the hope that when he awoke from it, this would all be a dream and he could redo this with Selene.
However, he knew that was not possible and he could not think of a way to handle the situation or how he could win Selene back. No option seemed like the right path to follow but one thing was sure he needed to give her some time alone, if he rushed out after her he was bound to regret it.
