CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN

She did not expect the look on his face so for a couple of seconds she was confused. “If you did not want to eat my food you could have just said that, you do not have to lie about not being hungry,” he said feigning annoyance. “What? No, I just did not want to put you through any trouble.'' She said in a bit of a hurry, she really enjoyed the pie and did not want him to think she did not like his cooking. Of course, there was no way he would think she did not like the pie especially with the way she had eaten it like a maniac. He probably did not want her anywhere near his food but was too nice to say it even though she had never once considered Vance to be nice, she could not help but feel that way. “Honey,” he whispered and bent so his face was inches away from hers. “You think I like to show off my body," he started to say, smirking when she had to force her eyes away from his chest to make eye contact with him. This did not last because not only was it uncomfortable, his chest was also so closed she could literally touch it. She was a little surprised he knew she thought he liked to show off his body but considering how she stared, it was no surprise if it was written on her forward. However, she was not complaining and would support his shirtlessness forever. “My cooking skill tops that so I can wholeheartedly assure you that it is not a hassle. Guess what? Luckily for you, I made some pasta which was, fortunately, more than enough so I had kept the rest in the refrigerator. I can quickly warm up that for you. What do you say?” As he asked the question he gently raised her chin so she could look up into his eyes. She smiled quickly, “how can I say no to pasta?” she replied, holding his gaze. “Yass,” he said and let go of Selene's face but immediately took her hand and pulled her up. “Come with me,” he murmured and pulled her as he began to walk away. Selene got into the spacious kitchen and the first thing that popped into her head was the scene of him licking pie off her. She shivered a little as the memory of the pleasure passed through her thoughts. Vance glanced at her oddly at this moment and she wondered if he too was having a flashback of the pie moment they once had. "Have a seat," he said and gently led her to the table. "Why thank you," she replied with a smile. He pulled out a seat by the side of the kitchen table and he made sure she was comfortable before letting go of her hand. He glanced at her one last time with a hint of a smile on his face before he headed for the refrigerator. "How hungry are you?" He asked and glanced in her direction, leaving the fridge open as he spoke. "Um…" she started but did not finish as her stomach let out another growl and they both burst out laughing. "Does that tell you all you need to know?" She asked, giggling. "Indeed," he said, still chuckling. He then proceeded to put his hand into the fridge and pulled out a covered plastic bowl. From where she sat she could vaguely see the contents and sure enough, it was clear to see that it was pasta. He poured a generous amount onto a plate and popped it into the microwave, closed and set the timer before he slowly made his way back to her and took a seat beside her. He turned the seat so it was facing her and took her hand. "Hi," he said and grinned. She chuckled, "Hi, yourself." "I am tempted to bring up the champagne but the last thing I want is for you to drink up on an empty stomach. When did you last eat and what did you eat?" She pulled her hand from his grasp and rang her fingers across his stubble. "Did you forget that I am a vampire? Those rules don't apply to me." He grabbed her hand as she was about to take it away and held it in his grasp once again. "Yeah, yeah but courtesy demands, besides dinner would be ready in less than three minutes. I am sure you can wait." She smirked, "It does not look like I have much of an option." He suddenly stood up and walked towards the microwave. Stopping the timer, he pressed it open and stirred the pasta before closing it back and setting up the timer once again. "That is pretty it, now we wait and once the timer goes off, dinner will be ready. I know you're starving, your stomach noises have not let up ever since." He said and plopped onto his seat, his legs were apart just a little. Selene watched him take a seat, his words barely registering. She had done nothing but watch his every move as he had made his way to the microwave. All she had thought about was pulling his shorts down and running her hands around his body. He sat and her eyes trailed to his waistline. Her gaze held as she stared at his budge. It was there quite yet but she knew first-hand that it would take much for her to get it there. It jerked in front of her and snapped her back to reality. "If you keep staring at me like that, I doubt I would be able to control myself." He said a little raspy like he had to force the words out of his throat. She returned her gaze to his face and the desire in his eyes reflected hers. She leaned closer and grabbed him by the handle, "Who do you think would go off first, you or the microwave?"
