It was the horn of the driver behind her that signaled her that the light had turned green. She immediately snapped out of it and pulled her head upward. Her home was just a couple of miles away, she could unwind there and think about what she had to do.
She was sure that she could convince her father, this wasn't even a difficult task, with a few reminders from her he would see why this suggestion of his was hogwash and just a moment of weakness. They were the Valak clan, they always overcame.
The rest of the drive home was Selene playing loud rock music as she tried to get her mind off the situation at hand. A lot of vigorous head shaking was included and at some point, she feared she would barf up yesterday's dinner but it didn't stop her from dancing to her heart's content.
Getting home, she quietly slid into her garage. However, she didn't leave the cat immediately but spent almost thirty minutes with the engine running and just dancing away. Dizziness and hunger spasm finally chased her ass out, and she eventually got out of the car.
She slowly made her way into the living room and threw herself on the couch but she couldn't afford to stay there for long, she needed a shower, for some reason all she could smell was Vance and it annoyed her because it reminded her of what had happened, the fact that he had wanted more and the annoying part where she had almost succumbed.
She sighed, loudly. This was why she hated being impulsive, terrible things tended to happen when her judgment is a little clouded. She walked to her room and literally ripped her clothes out of her body and laid them by the foot of her bed. If it was there, she would remember to throw it into the washing machine.
She dragged her feet as she slowly made her way to the bathroom, suddenly feeling a lot heavier even though all her outfits were gone. She ran the water until it was hot, it was enough to hurt her skin but not enough to burn her.
She needed it that way, she needed to wash off this feeling away, and maybe scrubbing herself with hot water was the way. For a full two minutes, she stood underneath the shower head and just let the water rain on her.
The first touch enacted a yelp from her but she immediately got used to it and even though her skin screamed— at some point, she thought she heard a sizzle —her mind felt sharper than ever.
She slowly washed herself clean, making sure that all could smell was her lavender body wash, nothing of the incident from last night. It reminded her of things she didn't want to be reminded of.
She had done that on a wimp because she wasn't in the greatest mental state at that point. Has it been helpful? Absolutely! Should she dwell on it? Absolutely not! Nothing good came out of entanglements and right now was not the right time to put her heart out, her brain needed it to function.
She was the Primus daughter, if that didn't say anything she couldn't think of anything else that would. If she couldn't change her father's mind then she might as well sell her birthright to some random soul.
Nobody knew him better than she did and she would have liked to believe he knew her better than anyone but clearly, she had been mistaken because what in the hell?!
Try as she might, she couldn't think of a logical explanation, couldn't think of a reason why her father would think of something so absurd. He must have known she wouldn't have gone along with it even if it was forced down her throat, she would have found a way to barf it out.
He was in for a fight, she clearly needed to speak some sense into him. The Blackwood clan must have gotten to him that was the only explanation she could think of because why would he even consider such a thing let alone suggest it.
The worst part was, he obviously had a prior meeting with the Nobles without her to discuss this and they all had no issue with neither her not being there and the most important of all alliance with the Blackwood clan. The nerve! Did they really expect her to say, 'Yes, thank you, I'll start preparing for my wedding?'
No way, they must have known she wouldn't have gone down without a fight. Well, they had absolutely no idea just how much of a fighter she was. They had absolutely no clue, she would win even if she had to drag them to her side with just her fangs.
She got out of the bathroom, feeling refreshed but as soon as she stepped back into her bedroom, a wave of Vance hit her. She literally staggered, it wasn't that she hated the smell, what annoyed her was she liked it a little too much.
However, it was turning her insides into shambles and this wasn't good for business. This was not good in the slightest. If all she could smell was him, how in hell would she be able to stop thinking about him? "My clothes!" She cried.
She packed the bunch that laid at the puddle of her feet and fled out of her bedroom, completely naked. Her hair was still dripping water as she ran all the way to the pantry. She hated that this was so, Vance style. What was wrong with her? Will she be able to do anything without associating it with him?
She sighed loudly, this was expected, she just left his house, of course, she was bound to think of him often. However, she was certain it was temporary and she intended to keep it so.
She got to the washing machine, she then dumped her clothes into the washing machine and turned it on. It wouldn't have taken the clothes very long to be clean enough considering Vance already washed them but she wasn't taking any chances so, she added a couple of minutes more. She would rather have worn-out clothes than have them stinking up her house.
