She got to the grocery store in no time and instantly began to feel self-conscious. One she was obviously overdressed and two she did not exactly know where the shelf of what she wanted was and she did not want to have to ask.
She took a deep breath and walked in. She walked with purpose like she knew exactly what she wanted. She picked a basket and dropped a couple of items in her bag so it would not look suspicious as she walked around looking for what she wanted.
The relief on her face when she finally found what she wanted was enormous. She packed as much as she could, she did not want a situation where she would run out of what she would use to change the dressing of the wound before it was completely healed. That would be drastic, having to come back was one of the things she wanted to avoid right now.
She forced herself to not take too much more than was needed besides if she took everything it would be too suspicious. Satisfied with what she had, she quickly made her way to the counter and dropped.
The attendant gave her an off look and Selene braced herself for an attack while trying to prepare a defense. She prayed it would be good enough but the attendant did not say anything. Instead, she started calculating the items.
"A hundred and fifty." She replied with an annoyed look.
"What?" Selene asked. She had heard but 'what' had been the first word out of her mouth before her brain registered the words of the salesgirl.
"I said A hundred and fifty," but before the words were completely out of the sales girl's mouth Selene was already handing her two notes, it was a hundred each.
The girl accepted the money with a huge frown and Selene immediately reached out to pick the items which had been separated into two bags. One held the bandages and stuff with the other held the cookies, fruits, and sweets she had picked in the process.
"Keep it," she muttered as the girl pulled out the drawer to give Selene her change, and before the girl could say her thanks she went out the door. The way her mean face had broken into a smile had been more than enough for her.
Normally, she would have insisted on getting her change even if there was no change or used her card instead but she was just too happy that she had gotten what she needed without incident.
She got into her car and dropped the item in the passenger seat. She started the car and drove off. She got home in a jolly mood. She still had at least nine hours before midnight. She groaned, there was no way she would arrive on time but she had to go no matter what.
One thing her father was known for was keeping true to his threats. If he said he would start watching her every movement, he would and just the idea alone made her cringe.
She got out of the garage with her items in hand and slowly made her way into the house. She flinched at the mess in the kitchen. The blood was drier and she could already tell that this was more work than the living room.
