"Not our boss, and I have nothing to say,"
Dea rolled her eyes good-naturedly. "And I'm supposed to believe that?"
"Yes, because we need to finish preparing lunch, it's getting late," her friend reminded her, as Dea returned to chopping vegetables.
"I could swear I hate you right now," Dea jokes, her eyes sparkling with amusement.
"He's just a jerk, nothing more," her friend replied, shrugging.
Dea leaned in, intrigued. "And?"
Her friend hesitated before continuing. "He's the boss's best friend...be careful not to cut yourself."
Dea waved her hand dismissively. "Don't worry about me, go on."
Her friend raised an eyebrow. "You know this is unhealthy, right? Talking and cooking at the same time?"
Dea grinned mischievously. "Just this once, I promise I won't talk anymore."
Karis held up her hands in surrender. "Okay, fine. He's the boss's best friend, and I've always hated him. I guess he feels the same way...because why won’t a person focus while walking down the stairs?"
Dea's eyes widened, and she burst out laughing. "What happened?"
Her friend's expression turned serious. "I was cleaning the tiles, and he was coming down the stairs, staring at his laptop. I tried to warn him, but he tripped and crashed everything...I almost lost my job because of that jerk."
Dea's laughter subsided, replaced by a serious expression. "How did you manage to keep your job?"
Her friend took a deep breath. "Mrs. Ilena fired me, but I waited for the boss and begged for my job back...in front of him. He claimed his laptop was destroyed beyond repair, with all his work inside."
Dea raised an eyebrow. "And it wasn't backed up?"
Her friend shook her head. "No, it wasn't. But they took me back after that."
"I'm telling you, he's into you," Dea said, her voice laced with conviction. "That stare wasn't about hostility; it was like he wanted to rip off your pants and...well, you know."
Karis shuddered, laughing. "Stop it, Dea! Back to work. Remember, I'm your senior here, so I give the orders."
Dea smirked. "Have I ever told you how boring you are?"
Karis pretended to think, a mischievous glint in her eye. "Hmm, I don't think so, but I've heard it a thousand times from someone I call my best friend."
Dea rolled her eyes. "Okay, okay, back to work. But know this, the gossip isn't over. You can whisper more later; I'll be right here."
As the evening drew to a close, Dea's stomach growled with hunger. She snuck into the dining area, grabbing some fruits to snack on. Karis caught her in the act.
"What are you doing?" Karis asked, a hint of amusement in her voice.
"Getting some fruits for us," Dea replied, trying to sound innocent.
Karis chuckled. "You know Mrs. Ilena will fire you if she sees this, right? We already packed enough food for tonight and tomorrow."
Dea pouted, her eyes fixed on the fruit. "But I need something now."
Just then, a stunning woman walked in, exuding elegance and poise. Her corporate dress hugged her curves, showcasing her cleavage, and her red lipstick made her look like a seductress. Her accessories and pointed heels screamed luxury, and her bag looked like a work of art.
As she ascended the stairs, her confident stride commanded attention. She was the epitome of professionalism and sensuality, a true masterpiece.
"You know, that should be me," Dea said, her voice laced with envy, as they watched the elegant woman walk upstairs.
"Going to the boss's room?"
Dea's face scrunched up in irritation. "No, I mean, looking stunning. Any man would fall for her."
Karis shook her head. "I don't think so. She knows her job, and the boss isn't that type. He barely talks to any woman, let alone us. I think he's got issues, but that's for his therapist to figure out."
Dea snorted. "A lady therapist? They're definitely hooking up, you know."
Karis raised an eyebrow. "I don't think so. And even if they were, it's none of our business."
Dea leaned in, her voice taking on a conspiratorial tone. "Come on, you've been working here for six months, and you've never heard any...ahem...noises, or do you think he’s gay?"
Karis rolled her eyes. "No, I haven't, and even if I had, it's not like I'd be sharing that with you. Besides, the boss's love life is none of our concern."
Dea's eyes widened as a realization struck her. "Wait, his friend can't be gay, not the way he was looking at you all possessively and—"
Karis dragged Dea out of the room, interrupting her train of thought. "Let's go, I'm starving too. And yes, the boss's ex-girlfriend does visit him often, so I doubt he's gay."
“And please don’t bring that i***t up anymore, I don’t think he’s worth our chat or talk or anything, the thought of him irritates me already”
“Okay ma’am, heard you but I think you will have to pay me three hundred thousand dollars for now and I will totally shut up”
“If I had that amount girl I will be somewhere in Miami, swimming in a nice pool with maids attending to me all round and making more money you know, and wait a minute did you take some alcohol here?”
“You know I don’t drink”
“I know nothing”
“I will k*ll you” she pursues her alittle as she was already moving forward
As they left, Dea turned to Karis with a mischievous grin. "You see why you need me? I got us covered with the fruits. We can snack on them in the cab."
Once outside, Karis asked, "Did you mess up the house before we left?" Notwithstanding the cold that was already taking them seeing from the weather that it was going to rain, they were actually freezing cold but Dea couldn’t careless.
Dea held up her pinky finger, measuring a small amount. "Just a little bit, I promise."
