Episode one: "The Gilded cage "
Emily had always felt like she was living in a gilded cage. Her parents, though well-intentioned, had controlled every aspect of her life since she was a child. They chose her clothes, her friends, even her extracurricular activities. She was never allowed to make her own decisions or express her own opinions.
As she blew out the candles on her 18th birthday cake, Emily felt a mix of emotions. Her parents beamed with pride, but she felt suffocated. She glanced around the room, filled with family and friends, all smiling and congratulating her on this milestone birthday. But Emily couldn't shake off the feeling of being trapped.
Her parents had always been overprotective, but it had gotten worse over the years. They monitored her social media, her phone, even her whereabouts. They meant well, but it felt like they were strangling her. Emily longed to break free, to make her own choices, to live her own life.
As she cut the cake, Emily's mind wandered to the college applications she had secretly submitted. She had applied to art schools, hoping to pursue her passion for painting, but she knew her parents would never approve. They wanted her to study medicine or law, something "respectable" and "secure."
As the party continued, Emily put on a mask of happiness, pretending to enjoy the celebration. But inside, she was seething. She felt like she was living a lie, like she was just going through the motions. She knew she had to take a stand, but fear held her back. What if her parents cut her off financially? What if they disowned her?
As the last guest left and the house grew quiet, Emily's parents cornered her in the living room. "We're so proud of you, sweetie," her mother said, beaming. "You're growing up to be such a wonderful young woman." Emily forced a smile, but inside, she was screaming for freedom.
And that's when she made a wish, a silent promise to herself. She would find a way to break free from her gilded cage, no matter the cost. Little did she know, this was just the beginning of a journey that would change her life forever.
