FELIX’s POV
My eyes flew to the door the moment I heard it open. The sight of a completely drenched Rosalie, with her now transparent shirt clinging to her curves as it gave room for her sexy black bra to be on display, had me tensing up in my seat. I was pretty sure I heard my brothers take in a sharp breath next to me.
I shouldn’t be staring, no less at the boobs of a woman who seemed to be clueless about her wardrobe accident situation. Wait. How long has she been like this? and how many men have seen her this way, possibly ogling her?
Just like you were doing, a quiet voice whispered inside my head, but I pushed it away just as quickly.
Before I could say a word, Adrian peeled his leather jacket off and said the word “catch” before throwing his jacket at a now mortified-looking Rosalie who seemed to have finally caught on. Her cheeks reddened, giving her a natural blush; she looked just as beautiful as she did the night of her freshman party, now without any makeup.
Rosalie caught the jacket skillfully and immediately ran to her room before anyone else could get another word in.
The apartment fell eerily silent the moment Rosalie’s bedroom door clicked shut. Adrian dragged a hand down his face before dropping back onto the couch with an exhausted sigh.
“…That was something,” Theodore muttered.
“She had no idea.” Lucian rubbed the back of his neck.
“No,” Adrian agreed quietly. “She didn’t.”
I leaned back and stared at the ceiling, the picture of the outline of her lace bra still so clear in my head. s**t, being with her made me feel so much like a creep, I wasn’t this out of control with other women. It was like a spell how much she managed to intrigue my brother and me so much.
Great.
We’d spent almost two weeks avoiding the woman, convincing ourselves distance would solve whatever the hell was wrong with us. Then the universe decided to throw a soaking-wet Rosalie through our front door wearing a transparent shirt.
Real funny.
“We all stared,” I muttered.
“Is it just me, or does she have a stronger scent today?” Lucian asked.
“Didn’t notice.” Theodore shrugged.
“Too busy ogling her, huh?” Lucian scoffed and Theodore threw him a harsh glare, flicking him off.
Before either of us could continue bickering, Rosalie’s bedroom door opened again, and our conversations died instantly. She walked back into the living room wearing an oversized hoodie and a pair of gray sweatpants, her damp blonde hair hanging loosely over her shoulders. Adrian’s leather jacket was neatly folded over one arm.
She crossed the room hesitantly before stopping in front of us.
“Here.” She held the jacket out toward Adrian. “Thank you.” She added, and he accepted it with a small nod.
“No problem.”
Rosalie remained standing. She kept nervously twisting her fingers together, which was unlike her. Usually she’d either roll her eyes at us or smile awkwardly before escaping to her room.
Now, she looked worried. What was wrong?
“Can I ask you guys something?” She finally asked.
“Sure,” Theodore answered instantly.
She took a small breath before she voiced her question. “Did I do something wrong?”
All four of us frowned. I didn’t know what I expected her to ask, but it was definitely not this.
“What?” Lucian asked.
“You’ve all been… gone.” Her eyes moved from one brother to another.
“I haven’t seen any of you in over one week.” She threw her hands up in the air, exasperatedly and her voice remained low.
.
“I know you’re all busy with club stuff, but…” She hesitated. “It honestly feels like you’re avoiding me.”
None of us answered. Because the truth was, we were actually avoiding her, but not for the reason she believed.
“I just—” she swallowed. “If I did something to make you uncomfortable, or if I’ve overstayed my welcome, I’d rather know.” Her voice grew quieter.
“No, you haven’t; you don’t have to leave,” Adrian said immediately.
“I wasn’t saying I would,” Rosalie said sheepishly.
“But you were thinking about it.” Lucian pointed, causing her to look away like she was too embarrassed to continue looking at us.
“Maybe.” She murmured.
Guilt settled over my chest. Hell. She genuinely believed this was her fault, completely unaware that our true reason for leaving had been to get our desire for her out of our system so it’d stop us from doing anything stupid after we came to the agreement that she was forbidden. Unfortunately, after seeing her today, it was safe to say the distance hadn’t worked one bit!
“Rosalie, you didn’t do anything wrong.” Theodore sighed.
She looked back up. “I didn’t?”
“Not even a little.” Lucian shook his head.
“We’ve just had club business to deal with,” Adrian added smoothly.
“Lots of it,” Theodore agreed.
I almost snorted. That wasn’t exactly a lie. We’d just conveniently stretched every job three times longer than necessary.
Rosalie searched each of our faces, as if trying to decide whether to believe us. After a moment of silence, she finally gave in and said, “Okay.”
Now that our disagreement was out of the way, I finally noticed what Lucian mentioned minutes ago. Rosalie definitely gave off a stronger scent today, unlike the rest of the days. A different one, too. Fresh and an intoxicating scent of caramel and vanilla, her usual scent, but this time it was abnormally intensified with a hint of a different scent I couldn’t quite place.
Was I crazy, or did she have a scent of an omega in heat??
