LUCIAN’S POV An awkward silence settled between us after our agreement. Theodore reached for another bottle of beer while Felix muttered something about us being pathetic. Adrian leaned back into the couch and deliberately turned his attention toward the group of guys playing pong near the entrance of the frat house. I did the same. Anything to stop staring at Rosalie as she danced with her friends. Looking at her brought back the alarmed look in her innocent eyes earlier today, when she walked in on me. It was an honest mistake on my part, forgetting she was moving in today. But the flustered look on her face had been so amusing, I couldn’t help but notice how cute she had looked with her cheeks all red. Silvia, the woman who gave me the blowjob, skillfully, might I add, had suggested we continue in my bedroom after Rosalie’s interruption. But I knew damn well, if we’d continued, my mind wouldn’t be on the woman whose mouth was wrapped around my d**k but distracted by Rosalie, who’d darted out of the living room in haste. Shit, this wasn’t good. If my brother knew about this, I knew I’d receive an earful. From Felix especially. A few minutes passed. The music continued pounding through the house while more students poured inside. Laughter echoed from every corner, bottles clinked together, and someone started chanting over a drinking game nearby. It was easy enough to lose ourselves in the noise. “…I still think this party sucks,” Adrian muttered, taking another sip. “They always do,” Theodore replied, and Felix chuckled. Our conversation drifted toward club business instead. We discussed tomorrow’s ride, an upcoming shipment, and one of our prospects who’d nearly wrecked his bike during training. “…He’s going to need another month before we patch him in,” Felix said. “Agreed.” Theodore glanced back toward the dance floor absentmindedly, and his expression instantly changed, his brows knitted together. “…Where’s Rosalie?” The three of us looked up immediately. I followed his line of sight to find that the exact spot where she’d been dancing only moments ago was empty. My grip tightened around the beer bottle. “What do you mean?” “She was right there.” Theodore stood. “With Blair.” “I don’t see Blair either,” Adrian said after scanning the crowd. Felix was already on his feet. “Maybe they went to get drinks.” The kitchen was near where we had settled, so I quickly got up to make a quick sweep of the kitchen in search of her bright, long blonde hair, which was hard to miss among the crowd. But she wasn’t there. She hadn’t gone upstairs with any of the frat boys, had she? “She’s not there,” I tell them. “Let’s split up,” Adrian ordered immediately. The playful mood disappeared from all four of us. Theodore headed toward the back exit. “Lucian, check upstairs.” I nodded and disappeared into the crowd without another word. I moved through the packed fraternity house, shoving past strangers who were too drunk to notice. Barely struggling to calm my annoyance as I think of the possibility of hanging with any frat boys or biker men who’d been eyefucking her earlier. Fair, I wasn’t any much different, but unlike them, I wouldn’t coerce anyone like some of the crass men were known for. Or worse, drug her? “s**t!” I cursed under my breath. ROSALIE’s POV “Excuse me, I’ve got to use the restroom!” I tell Blair and Arabella after a moment of us dancing non-stop. “Okay! I think I need some air. Arabella and I can wait for you in the backyard, right?” Blair said loudly over the music, turning to Arabella for confirmation, who in turn nodded. “Yeah, I could use some air too,” she replied. “Cool, I’ll meet you two in a bit,” I replied, keeping my voice high-pitched so they could hear me. Afterwards, we parted ways, so I decided to go upstairs in search of a bathroom after not finding any guest restroom downstairs. The upstairs hallway was noticeably quieter than the chaos downstairs. The bass still vibrated through the walls, but it was now muffled. Thankfully, it didn’t take long before I spotted a small sign pointing toward the guest bathroom. “Finally.” I slipped inside, splashed some cold water on my face, and stared at my reflection. The red dress still looked just as stunning as it had when Blair forced me into it. I smiled faintly. Maybe coming tonight hadn’t been such a bad idea after all. After easing myself in the bathroom and fixing my hair a bit, I unlocked the door and stepped back into the hallway. Only to stop short when I saw two ladies standing outside like they’d been waiting for me. Or they probably just wanted to use the bathroom too… I wondered. But when I attempted to leave, one of the girls shifted to the middle of the hallway, effectively blocking my path, while the other casually rested against the opposite wall with her arms folded. What? I blinked in surprise, and it was only then that I noticed how familiar one of the ladies looked. The brunette. Lucian’s brunette. I’d seen her clearly when I walked in on them, but I was positive she was the same woman from earlier today. Oh. This was awkward. “…Can I help you?” I asked cautiously. The brunette looked me up and down before offering a surprisingly pleasant smile. “So you’re Rosalie.” She stated. I blinked in surprise. “You know my name?” “Hmm.” Her friend—a tall blonde covered in tattoos—tilted her head. “We just wanted to ask you something.” The brunette continued. “What is it?” The brunette glanced downstairs before returning her attention to me. “What’s your relationship with the Hellbound boys?” “My relationship?” I frowned. “Adrian. Theodore. Lucian. Felix.” She listed each name slowly, like she was talking to a child. “You came in with them.” “Oh.” I let out a small laugh. “It’s not what you’re thinking.” “Then tell us what it is.” The blonde one frowned, one of her brows lifted like she was trying to make out what was funny. “They’re… helping me.” I hesitated, unsure how much to share. “My brother was one of their closest friends.” Recognition flashed across both their faces. “Levi?” the blonde asked. I nodded. “He passed away a few weeks ago.” “I’m sorry,” the brunette said quietly, her expression softening. “They promised him they’d look after me. That’s all this is.” “So… you’re not sleeping with any of them?” Heat rushed to my face. “What? No!” “Not dating one?” “No.” “Interested in one?” I nearly choked. “Still No.” The brunette exchanged a glance with her friend before pushing herself off the wall. “Good.” She stepped forward, closing the gap between us a little. “We’re glad to hear that,” she said with a smile that somehow looked forced. “But if we ever think you’re getting too close…we won’t be this nice next time.” “Stick within your boundaries, okay?” Her friend warned, her eyes darkening. A chill crept down my spine. Is this what Arabella was talking about? The last thing I needed was drama during my first year. Before I could say anything, the two women walked past me. Their heels echoed down the hallway until they disappeared toward the stairs. I stood there for several seconds. “…What the hell was that?” I wasn’t even interested in any of the quadruplets. Childhood crushes hardly counted. Besides, even if I wanted to pursue one of them—which I absolutely did not—they clearly only saw me as Levi’s little sister. So why were random women warning me to stay away? Shaking my head, I headed toward the staircase. I had barely made it a few steps before a familiar voice called out behind me. “There you are.” He sounded pissed. I turned. “Lucian?”
