Aftermath

ROSALIE’s POV I woke up the next day to the weight of strong arms wrapped around my waist and a hard build cuddling from behind. My eyes immediately snapped open, widening when I was met with the sight of the four men sprawled over my bed— which by the way could barely fit us all. But given how close we were, we managed to make that work. “s**t,” I cursed under my breath as the realization of what happened last night started to sink in. I had s*x with four guys?? Fine maybe not s*x yet since there wasn’t any penetration, but still…FOUR GUYS?? “Oh moon goodness” I mumbled as I gently removed both Adrian’s and Felix's hands that had been wrapped around me and slowly shuffled out of the bed, careful not to wake them up. Honestly, I didn’t dare to face them right now knowing what had happened last night. How they’d seen every part of my body unclothed, devoured it even, and how I’d squirmed under their touch as I begged for more. I immediately shook my head in an attempt to stop the image of last night’s act from resurfacing. Luckily the quadruplet were all heavy sleepers because by the time I finished freshening up in my bathroom and getting dressed for my early morning lecture, they were still fast asleep. I grabbed a snack from the kitchen cabinets, shoved it into my tote bag, and slipped out of the apartment. The cool morning breeze greeted me the moment I stepped outside the apartment building, and I silently welcomed it. Hopefully, it would help cool the embarrassing thoughts threatening to consume me. It didn’t. With every few steps I took, flashes from last night crept into my mind. Theodore’s boyish smile, Lucian’s teasing grin, Felix’s playful laugh, and Adrian’s commanding voice. My cheeks heated so quickly I was convinced passing students could see the blush. “Oh, Goddess…” I muttered under my breath, burying my face deeper into my scarf. How was I ever supposed to look those men in the eye again? By the time I reached campus, I’d successfully convinced myself to stop thinking about them. It lasted all of thirty seconds. “Rosalie!” I looked up just in time to see Blair waving enthusiastically from the nursing building entrance. “There you are!” she said, looping her arm through mine and we walked together into the lecture hall. “I thought you overslept.” “I almost did.” “Liar.” She narrowed her eyes dramatically. “You’ve been smiling to yourself since you walked over here.” “I have not.” “You absolutely have.” I frowned. Had I? “…Maybe I’m just in a good mood,” I said instead. “Mhmm.” Blair hummed suspiciously. Thankfully, our lecturer arrived before she could interrogate me further. Unfortunately for me, anatomy practical wasn’t nearly distracting enough. I caught myself staring blankly at the skeleton model while remembering Adrian’s deep voice. “Babygirl.” “Rosalie.” I blinked. The lecturer was looking directly at me. “Can you identify this bone?” “…The femur?” “It was the clavicle.” The lecturer corrected sternly. And a few of my course mates chuckled discreetly as I resisted the urge to cover my face in embarrassment. “I knew that,” I mumbled. “I know, so did everyone else, that's why it’s funny you got it wrong,” Blair whispered beside me, barely containing her laughter. “I hate you.” “No, you don’t.” She smirked. By the end of the lecture, my brain felt completely fried. “I deserve compensation for emotional damages embarrassing myself in front of the entire class caused,” I said as we stepped outside. Blair gasped dramatically. “I know exactly what you need.” “What?” “Ice cream.” I didn’t even hesitate. “Sold.” *** A few minutes later, we were seated outside a small ice cream shop near campus. The afternoon sun had softened, a gentle breeze carrying the scent of freshly baked waffles through the open plaza. Blair happily attacked her triple-scoop chocolate cup while I quietly worked on my vanilla caramel. For a while, neither of us spoke, that is until Blair broke the premature silence. “So…” Blair suddenly dragged the word out. “There it is.” I sighed. “There what is?” “The look.” “What look?” “The look that says you’re about to become unbearably nosy.” “I am not nosy.” “You once figured out two seniors were dating because they accidentally matched their shoelaces.” “They were matching maroon laces. That’s like a clear giveaway” “I’m pretty sure they were black.” “They looked maroon in the sunlight.” I laughed despite myself. Blair pointed her spoon at me triumphantly. “There!” “What?” “That smile.” “What smile?” “That one!” She leaned forward across the table. “You’ve been spacing out all day.” “I have not.” I rolled my eyes playfully. “You answered the clavicle question with ‘femur.’” “Let’s not relive that.” “You’ve smiled at absolutely nothing six times since we sat down.” “I didn’t think it was a crime to smile to oneself. Besides you’re going to count how many times I smile now?” “I did.” She shrugged, unbothered. I rolled my eyes again, deciding not to indulge her. But Blair wasn’t one to give up as she kept staring at me like she was trying to read me. “Wait I’m being serious now, you’ve got this special glow all over you,” she said as she waved her hand over me. That made me pause. “…Glow?” I queried. Blair nodded enthusiastically. “Your skin looks brighter, you keep randomly smiling and you’ve been completely distracted all day.” She narrowed her eyes with exaggerated suspicion. “Rosalie…” “…What?” “Did something happen?” Her grin slowly spread. I nearly choked on my ice cream. “N-No.” “That’s the fastest you’ve ever answered anything.” “I just said no.” I said flatly. She leaned even closer, lowering her voice dramatically. “Tell me.” She demanded. “There is nothing to tell.” “Someone kissed you?” “What?” “You’re getting red.” “It’s the weather!” “Oh moon goddess! Is it one of the sexy biker men you live with?” Her eyes went wide in anticipation of my answer. “Hmm?” I framed not to have heard her. Blair slapped the table triumphantly. “I knew it!” “You know nothing!” I said exasperatedly. “Oh, I know plenty.” She pointed her spoon at me accusingly. “You’ve got that stupid, dreamy smile people only get after something romantic happens.” I quickly looked away, my face growing hotter. If Blair ever found out exactly why I couldn’t stop thinking about the quadruplets. I’d never hear the end of it. But I knew better than to keep on denying it because she’d stop at nothing to find out the truth. “Fine! I may have gone into intense heat last night and sought help from them and they helped me through it.” I rambled quickly. “I literally knew something happened! Which of the quadruplets?” Blair asked excitedly with a goofy grin spread wide across her face. “All four…” I mumbled quietly and Blair’s jaw immediately dropped as she stared at me with disbelief. I buried my face into my hands. “I know it’s wild, I feel crazy for doing that.” “You’re not crazy. And that’s like the juiciest thing ever. My aunt is mated to three men and she’s living the literal dream. So trust me, if anyone is going to judge, it’s most definitely not me,” Blair said. “You know what? I love you,” I chuckled. “Uh huh. Now tell me everything. In detail” Blair wiggled her brows. By the time I finished telling her everything that happened last night, Blair stared at me with a dreamy look before blurting out: “I think I need to get laid too!” We parted ways moments later and I returned to the apartment. On reaching the front door, the light-hearted mood I’d been in started to fade when I realized I still had to face them. Last night felt almost unreal, like something that could only happen in a dream. But dreams didn’t leave behind lingering memories or butterflies every time I remembered the way they’d consumed me. What if everything was awkward now? What if they’d regretted it after I left this morning? What if— I stopped myself with a sigh. Overthinking wasn’t going to help. I unlocked the apartment door and quietly stepped inside. It was extremely quiet. Maybe they weren’t home yet. The thought made me feel a bit of relief, I’d have a little more time to mentally prepare. I slipped off my shoes and headed toward my bedroom, keeping my footsteps as quiet as possible. Almost there… Just a few more— The floorboard behind me creaked causing me to freeze. Slowly, I turned my head and found Lucian standing in the hallway, leaning casually against the kitchen entrance with his arms folded across his chest. He’d apparently changed out of his leather cut and into a fitted black T-shirt that somehow made him look even broader. How long had he been standing there? His grey eyes stayed fixed on mine, amusement flickering behind them. “You’re home.” “I…” I cleared my throat. “Yeah.” An awkward silence stretched between us. I glanced toward my bedroom door, then back at him, then toward my bedroom again. Without another word, I started walking. “Rosalie.” His voice stopped me from taking any step further. I turned slowly as Lucian pushed himself off the wall and took a few unhurried steps closer. His gaze searched mine for a long moment before one corner of his mouth lifted. “Are you avoiding me?”
