****Layla's POV**** We got to the school gate and Pablo pulled the car over. Judging by his expression he won't even try to drive the car into the school compound. He didn't want to show anyone that he was my driver how stupid of him. "Thanks Pablo" I greeted him and walked past the school gates. I saw as everyone were comfortable with their short skirts while I just tried to hide my laps. They were all paired in twos and threes, talking to each other about their father's business or the earring they wore and how it cost thousands of Dollars to get. Some even spoke of their very beautiful shoes. I envied their life. I'm just here to live a fake life. I just wished Carlos asked me of the choice of my school before taking me here. f**k! I was feeling uncomfortable already. Students hit me as they ran pass me. I knew no body so I just folded my hands and followed them behind. It was my first day and we were heading to our assembly hall. They made a little announcement about the change of subject time table and students should deal with it as it would take time to adjust. After that, I found my way to the principal's office, following him behind after he left the hall. "Excuse me sir!" I tried calling him but he failed to listen to him. I mistakenly followed him to his office. He turned and glared at me. "Have you lacked manners?" He asked me. I knew how rick kids here lack manners. I even heard a rumour of students fighting the teacher. How funny and embarrassing at the same time. I left his office without uttering any word. I knocked on his door gently, slipping my hands into my but jacket. He took some seconds before telling me to come in. I secretly rolled my eyes and his pride. "So? What do you want?" He asked. Now I see what's happening. This old dude here can't tell that I'm a new student. I took few steps closer to his desk. "I'm a new student" I said. He nodded his head. "Oh, I see. You're the third new student coming in today. I'll get your file. Hold on" he said. He started humming a song, waiting for him to look for my file. My eyes strolled the entire office. He suddenly saw the file and froze. "Layla?" He called my name. "Yes sir" I said. "Layla Luciano? Brother of Carlos Luciano?" He asked me, standing up from his chair. I could sense the fear in his voice. Without hesitation, I nodded my head. I can't believe I'll be lying to protect myself and get respect. "Yes, I'm his sister" I lied again. He gasped snd dropped the file on the table, rushing to me. I was shocked. He slowly made me sat down. "I'm deeply sorry for how I treated you. Forgive me miss Luciano" "Don't call me by my father's name. Just call me Layla " I said, feeling uncomfortable with that name 'miss Luciano' "Sure, miss Luciano. Would you like anything to drink? Wine, tea, juice?" "I'm fine. Thank you" I replied. He nodded and went back to his seat. "I'll complete the registration and you can get to class immediately" he said and I just nodded with my eyebrows raised. I cursed in my mind. I hope the teachers and the students won't be treating me this way. I don't want them knowing I'm a fake Luciano. . After few minutes of humming a particular chorus over and over, the principal handed me the paper and also the map around the school. "I'll call you to get the remaining books. Let me take you to your class" he stood up. I quickly stand up also and shook my head. "It's fine. I can find my way. Thank you" I said and quickly left his office. The hall was empty already. Everyone were in class, learning. I just followed the map and headed to class A. It's been two and the half years since I last went to school but thank goodness I read at home and also at the restaurant whenever I got the chance to. I may also have forgotten a lot of things. I saw the classroom and opened the door. The class got distracted, by me. I was now the center of attraction. Everyone's gaze fell on me. I stared at the teacher who also froze after I stepped in. "New student?" She asked with a smile. I liked her already. I nodded my head. She took the paper from my hand and stared at it. "Class A. Welcome" she said and faced the class. "Class, we have a new student" she said. They started cheering. "What's your name?" She asked. "Layla" I replied. I dare not say Luciano. That name can make them now at my feet. "You don't have a second name?" The teacher asked. "I prefer you just call me Layla" I said. "Fine. Sit on that empty seat there. Welcome" she said. I adjusted my bag and head to the chair. I didn't have time to find my locker. I hate as their gaze pierced through my skin. Why the f**k are they staring at me? Argh! I brought out my book and concentrated in class. I don't only have to go t school, I need to make Carlos proud so that he won't regret calling me his sister here. I focused in class, doing the best that I can to understand the new strange subject. I'm in a senior class one now. I need to behavior normally and also like a senior. . . Hours later after learning three subject, it was finally time for lunch. I packed my bags, hoping to find my locker. I can't keep carrying my bag everywhere I go. I stood up and a girl walked to me. "Hi, I'm Sara" she said. "Oh, hi Sara" I said and carried my bag. "Are you on your way to the canteen?" Sh asked. "Not really. I need to find my locker first" I said. "Come, I'll show you" she said. How nice and easy for me. I smiled and thanked her. She started talking to me about her family as she adjusted the glasses on her face. She looked like nerd but she doesn't look like one. She showed me my locker and I shoved my bag in it. "Now, let's go to the canteen" she said, grabbing my hand. How friendly of her. I followed her behind and we entered the senior canteen. I was wowed. It was so big and clean. We didn't even have to wait up in line. I took my lunch and sat with classmate, Sara. She was the nicest friend I've ever have after my boss at the restaurant. She kept talking about her family, especially her brother. I didn't want to say anything because it was none of my business. I can't just poke my nose into her family's business. All I just did was smile and laugh. I took my can and opened it. As I gulped from it, I heard screams. It was the ladies including from the stupid cheerleaders. Argh! It spilled on my shirt. Just my first day. I hope Carlos doesn't see this. I cursed under my breath. The same club that almost made me a slut. I wonder what these ones will make me do if I want to join them. I just watched as the ran to the door. I cleaned my shirt with a napkin. "Why the heck are they screaming?" I asked. "The boys are here" she rolled her eyes. The boys. I don't need anyone telling who The boys are already. They are the same motherfucker that were in my former school. Those rich kids that bullied people. They are the cutest, hot and daring boys in the school. I rolled my eyes and continued eating. "Aren't you going to go there to hug them or touch them or take their signature?" She asked me. "I'm not that kind of person. I don't need them. I don't need anyone" I said. Sara shut her eyes wide open and moved closer to me. "I've finally found someone that's not interested in The boys" she said and I laughed weakly. From behind, the ladies were still around, collecting signatures and all that. "Thank you but we gotta eat" they shoved them aside and walked away. The ladies continued screaming. I rolled my eyes. I hate that. The boys aren't celebrities, they are just normal students like us. I felt their presence behind me. I could judge by the look on Sara's face. I turned and my eyes sighted one of them. "Who are you?" He asked. "Who are you?" I replied. The rest of his friends gasped. They were shocked to hear my response. Why was it sounding like I've done something bad. "How dare you ask me that dumb question? Who the f**k are you?" He asked me. I exchanged glances with Sara who was still laughing. "It's enough bro. Just let her be. Find somewhere else to sit down" Sara said. The cute, hot dude was her brother. Now I see the reason why she's not one of the ladies chanting The boys. She was the sister of the head. "I want to sit here. Tell this b***h to leave from here" he said. How rude. I was bullied in my former school. Now that I have Luciano's name to back me up here, I won't lose that chance. Instead, I'll be the bully. People started to gather to watch what was going on. They loved drama, high school students. "I'm not a b***h you rotten d**k!" I said. Everyone gasped. I could hear the cheerleaders gossiping already. They were asking where I came from? Who I was? He angrily raised his hand and slapped me across the face. I fell back to the chair. Sara helped me. "Hey! Don't you dare hit a lady. Are you crazy?!" "Stay out of this or I'll hit you too. Who does she think she is?" He asked. "Yes! Hit her again my love!" "Send her away!" "Who is the new girl?" They kept yelling. My hand was just on my face. The next seconds, the speaker announced. "Layla Luciano, report to the principal's office please" Everyone gasped. As if God heard my prayer. I left my tray and stood up with my head up high. Now, I was the topic of discussion. They heard the surname loud and clear.
