Chapter 9

A fight would unfold on land that was supposed to keep the werewolf kind safe, which stirred the beast inside Aerly, her home, her precious home was being threatened. Amongst the trees wolves edged closer to the border. Aerly could see her father, brother and some of their warriors. Her brother and father attempting to negotiate as predicted.  "Raiden will be here soon... We just have to buy some time. Lucian must have been waiting till he was gone" Niko spoke but he two couldn't pull his eyes away from the scene in front of them. "Well, I certainly hope you don't expect me to stand around waiting" Aerly scoffed at the idea before she began her walk towards the intruding Lycans. There were enough wolves from Lucian's pack to put up a good fight if they had too and if it were just werewolves in the Sanctuary the purebloods would most likely win. All the purebloods obvious with their white glistening fur and frankly stood taller than a regular werewolf but Aerly was far too happy to knock them down a peg and tarnish that flawless Snow White fur with blood if it came to it. "Just give us the girl and we will be on our way!" A man shouted above the snarls and growls. He stood tall amongst the Pureblood pack, the only one in human form with his arms as thick as tree stumps folded over his chest, he was strong and clearly arrogantly aware of it. "This is a Sanctuary, safe for all wolves who come here. If she has come here for protection then there is nothing you can do" William calmly explained. "There is nothing we can do? She's our Alpha's mate!" the man let out a challenging growl "give us the girl now!" "How dare you come here and demand anything" Aerly shouted her silver eyes shooting daggers at the man as she approached. "My, my aren't you a feisty one" his demeanour quick to change once he saw Aerly a smirk crept its way across his lips as his chestnut coloured eyes wandered over her form from head to toe. "Take one step closer and see how feisty I can get" Aerly bared her fangs not caring what her father or brother thought. Their negotiations were pointless and a hope for peace would never happen, these pure blood's came to take Lilah with no regards how they got her. "With that attitude, I might want to take you instead" even at his words Aerly could practically feel the bile making it's way up her throat at the thought. "That is quite enough! Do not speak to my daughter like that" William growled both William and Eli were quick to change from their position at those words. No matter how strong Aerly was William would always be protective over his daughter.  "Oh? And what will you do old man? Your young pup is a warrior but no match for me" the man eyed Eli for a moment easily dismissing him as a challenge "I'm sure if we took back a strong she--" the man suddenly turned his pointed features to the sky his nose to the air taking in a long breath "oh... Not just a she-wolf but a half breed." "Enough Danis, leave now!" Niko was the one to step in this time and the man's eyes widened realising his presence "this land is under Raiden's guard now. You have no claim." "Well I don't see the almighty Alp--- Oh wait he isn't even an Alpha yet is he" Danis chuckled "there is a reason Apollo hasn't passed down the title and you are a fool if you follow his lead instead of Lucian's or even Julian. Raiden is weak he always has been" the words seemed to tick off something in Aerly's mind true she had only known Raiden a little while but he was her mate and the bond was formed once they met. The blatant disrespect this man spat out stirred something deep inside Aerly, sure the young woman was protective over her family and home but this was different this was deep in the pits of her stomach... As though a reaction on her natural instincts almost primal. "I suggest you reframe from saying anything more about our Alpha" Niko ordered more than just for his own packs benefit but it was though he could sense Aerly's unease with the silver-eyed wolfs claws starting to extend. "Hard to hear the truth isn't Nik?" Danis chuckled "Raiden will fall and Lucian will take over the region. Get used to the idea." "ENOUGH!" Aerly screamed her voice echoing through the trees. Her breath ragged as she struggled not to shift but her four canines were elongated, the girl was radiating blood lust. "Getting a bit riled up there, half breed, got a soft spot for the almighty one" his tone laced in mocking "don't worry.." he stepped closer and began to lean in towards her until Danis's face was mear inches from her ear and his voice lowering causing all the other wolves to stand on edge "maybe you can get a soft spot for me instead of a pathetic cast off who hasn't even gained his title" and those were the last words from his mouth before Aerly dove in for the kill. It was barely in the blink of an eye her fangs sinking into the soft skin of his throat, she had aimed straight for the jugular. Through the flesh, muscle and veins she tore into him like a rabid beast ripping away the chunk of flesh while letting bloody stain her face and drip freely down her chin. It was clear she had pierced the carotid artery once she pulled away with the blood gushing out like a water fountain. Danis's eyes were bulging out of their sockets as his mouth opened and closed as though attempting to speak before he dropped like a bag of rocks to the dirt. Aerly stood tall amongst the silence, her silver eyes scanned the shocked faces before she spat the flesh from her mouth leaving the taste of iron running down her throat. "I warned you about stepping closer" she muttered to the body now crumpled to the ground and that was when all hell broke loose. The purebloods howling for their loss before running into battle but it was short-lived when a distant growl ran through the area alerting every wolf on the spot, it was powerful and strong and Aerly knew exactly who it was when the large wolf emerged from trees. His gunmetal grey fur threw her off for a moment before she remembered what Lilah had told her that he wasn't a complete pure blood either. Once again silence rained as he stepped his large paws across the ground twigs snapping and leaves crunching underfoot. The silence lasted only a moment before three wolves jumped to attack him and Aerly couldn't help the stir of concern sure he was big and built but that could also mean slow and clumsy in a fight she was sure he could hold his own though Aerly had to dismiss the distraction and let her wolf emerging. The cream fur was quick to cover her skin and in an instant, she was on all fours the snarling beast was let free prepared to ravage anything she sunk her teeth into. It was a battlefield, snarls and growls sounding through the woods. Aerly let her anger fuel her sinking her fangs into whatever she got ahold of but with a mix of warrior wolves, Alpha's and pure blood's Lucian's pack wasn't set up to the task especially without a Beta to give orders in keeping form, they were sloppy and unsure as they fought for their cause but with their numbers diminishing the wounded were quick to retreat leaving their dead scattered on the field. Early stood by the trees watching the direction they fled and releasing a threatening growl. "Aerly!" the voice was full of concern and it gave her a sense of comfort. A sense of calm washed over her as though everything was alright now, it was a strange sensation but Aerly welcomed it which let her return to her human state. The usually stunning girl stood nude and bloodied amongst the bodies of the dead. "Aerly!" the voice called once again. She turned to see Raiden, the large imposing man carelessly storming across the ground.  "Raiden..." her voice was soft as she spoke his man. It was odd really when the bond formed, it was formed and it didn't matter the amount of time they spent together the connection was real and burnt with a raging fire. Aerly could deny it and not want to accept it but she couldn't ignore her affections for the man as she met his pace to meet him. A few more steps as she was met with his large hands holding either side of her neck, it seemed to be where Raiden had settled to hold the girl each time they met. "Are you alright?" he asked as his eyes searched her own. She had never been on the end of such affection it was almost overwhelming.  "I'm fine" her fingers found their way to clutch onto his forearms as her silver eyes were held in the captivation of his own "are you?" "I'm alright, take a lot more than a few warriors to take me down" a cocky grin sat lopsided on his lips as he let his forehead rest against her own "I was more worried about you." "It would take more than a few warriors to take me down" she mimicked holding her own smirk while he couldn't help but chuckle. Lost in their own world the pair didn't seem to take notice of the crowd now watching the straight interaction that was until William decided to clear his throat capturing Aerly's attention. "Aerly... Mind telling us what's going on?..."
