Chapter 3

"Shall I go prepare some lunch?" Rose suddenly interrupted the awkward silence that hung in the air. Will still caught off guard over Raiden's actions but the sound of his wife's voice brought him back to reality where he was faced with the largely built man waiting for him to reply. "Yes, my love" he responded to his wife before speaking to the soon to be Alpha "Yes, of course, let us proceed" Will quickly cleared his throat and held the most formal of tones he could muster. "Aerly dear, come help me in the kitchen," Rose asked which gained a curious look from her stepdaughter. The girl wasn't one for the kitchen and never had been frankly the fact she was clearly trying to insist Aerly act differently just because of the Lycans made the silver-eyed young woman want to roll her eyes. "No, no" the interruption again caught everyone off guard as Raiden spoke, "she should be in the meeting should she not.." Raiden turned to Will seeming confused "you are passing your role down to your daughter yes?" "No, I am passing the role to my son Eli" Will directed his attention to the gangly eighteen-year-old. Raiden took in the young man for a minute with a furrowed brow "we should continue with the meeting" Will attempted to get the conversation back on track. "Come anyway darling" Raiden turned back to Aerly who looked surprised but it was quickly wiped off her face and once again she held her prideful gaze "I insist she attend the meeting" Raiden left no room for argument as he began walking towards the house followed by the other two large men while they were all quick to follow. ::: "So how may I help you?" Will asked once they were settled in his sparsely decorated office. "Firstly I have to say I respect this Sanctuary as you call it. The idea is quite interesting helping other wolves that need it is quite commendable and I will give you that however.." Raiden adjusted himself in the grey cushioned chair his legs crossed with his ankle resting on the opposite legs knee "I'm aware it's been quite a few years now and things have gone smoothly but you also refused to let this be called an actual back with leaves you vulnerable." "We have never had much trouble here" Will explained. "I'm aware of this but your Sanctuary is gaining more and more wolves if I'm correct there is even an Alpha's mate here. I've been hearing trouble for this place rumours of attack" Raiden's blue eyes focused on the three in front of him. "We can take care of this ourselves" Aerly snapped. "My darling..." he immediately responded with the pet name confusing Will and Eli "I am sure you can however the Alpha whose mate is here isn't just an Alpha he is a pure-blood my cousin actually" all three of the Rhodes family suddenly tensed "Now do not be concerned I haven't divulged any information but I have heard he is preparing to attack who has her" Raiden explained his elegant tone just rolling off his tongue. "How can we even trust you?" Aerly scoffed her silver eyes practically shooting daggers at the large man. "Whether you trust me or not does not change the fact" he let out a deep breath before shifting in his seat leaning his torso forward and his elbows resting on his knees "I am certainly not here out of the kindness of my heart. You're quite secluded here so let me explain the situation. When I was twenty-two--" "Moon mother this isn't going to be a long story is it?" Aerly groaned to which her father gave a warning growl but it didn't bother the silver-eyed woman. Raiden seemed to chuckle at her interruption clearly finding it assuming "as I was saying when I was twenty-two my father made a deal for me to become Alpha I would have to take over the entire region. It has taken some time almost four years but I only have two more packs to take over however my father has decided to change his mind about the deal if I take over my two cousins packs aswell I can have my title... Now your Sanctuary is tucked in the middle of the region and now my cousin is aiming to take everyone's head involved with him losing his mate so I would like to make a deal with you, William. I would like to take the Sanctuary under my title now I know how it sounds but I have no intention of changing anything you will still live how you do but you will be under my guard. My cousin is a vicious being which is why until I take care of him I would like it to be under my title. Now, what do you think?" "I have a few questions.." Aerly spoke causing them all to turn to the she-wolf "one can you talk underwater because my that was quite a monologue and two father you cannot possibly agree to this can you?"  "Aerly! Do not be disrespectful" her father snapped "and whether I agree or not isn't your decision to make." "Do not speak to her like that!" Raiden growled fiercely as he stood suddenly from his seat. Causing everyone in the room to stiffen. "What is going on?" Will questioned his gaze turning from his daughter to Raiden as though just from observation. Raiden opened his mouth to speak but was quick to notice his mates nervousness over the matter. He cleared his throat and adjusted the jacket over his shoulders before returning to his seat "your daughter is... Quite intriguing. I do have a question about her." "And what is that?" Will asked his eyebrows furrowing at the man's interest. "Is she adopted or did you take her in as a pup?" Raiden's question caught everyone by surprise "I noticed you and your wife do not have what Aerly has." "What is it you think I have?" Aerly's eyes narrowed towards the large man disliking this conversation. "Pureblood. At least half" his gaze trailed over her form. "Rose my wife isn't Aerly's mother. My first wife Carlina is but she passed when Aerly was a child. Carlina was a full Lycan yes" Will clarified causing Aerly's eyes to almost bulge from the sockets with her father's revelation. "And when were you going to tell me?" she spoke her tone of anger and frustration. "You're a half breed. It is best most don't know. Purebloods don't look to kindly on half breeds which surprises me that her mothers family didn't kill Aerly" Raiden kept his eyes focused and observing Aerly. "Carlina's family was running low on pack members. Her older brother was taking over as Alpha but they would never have an heir from him so they found my pack. I was a strong Alpha they said I was worthy of their youngest child and agreed with my parents for us to get married but after my wife died we lost contact with them" Will explained the whole situation leaving the she-wolf completely dumbfounded. "Is that the real reason you wouldn't let me take over the Sanctuary father?" Aerly released a sigh "because out their somewhere is more of my family and I am the future heir to their pack?" her father hesitantly nodded "I can't believe you didn't tell me about this" shaking her head "if you will excuse me father, brother I need some air" Aerly quickly stepped towards the door "nice meeting you Alpha Damery" were her last words before quickly exiting the office and making a run for the back door with so much swirling in her mind.
