The Twists Of Fate

"Alice wake up!!" I hear my mom yell from the other room "uhh" I mumble yell as I roll off my bed and into the floor. Ow that hurt I think to myself as I finally wake up enough to move about correctly. I'm Alice I'll be 15 in two weeks and while most kids my age are excited I feel dread. Something bad is going to happen I just know it, but we will get back to that. As I fully wake up I realized my mom has woken me up on one of my last few days of summer break! I walk into the living room to see what she wanted seeing as I'd so rudely been awakened. "It's so bright in here mom can we close those curtains". "It's noon if you hadn't slept so late you wouldn't feel like a vampire right now". "It's summer I'm supposed to get to sleep in woman now what's up I'm awake I know you had a reason other than I was sleeping and you weren't right??". "Of course go get dressed we have school and birthday shopping to do". "Okay I'll be out in a few". I don't want to worry my mom and tell her I feel the way I do because she believes me. Before my step dad passed away she used to ask me when he would be coming home. He drove long haul big trucks so we didn't get much time with him, but we loved him dearly. He would always fib to mom when he would be home so he could surprise us, but somehow I always knew exactly when he would be home. As we crawl into the car mom's asking what I want to do for my birthday I of course always opt for the lake. I love the feeling of freedom I have there it's so beautiful with it's waterfalls and hiking trails. Mom tells me my older brother Jake whose 22 will be coming to visit and I can't wait, we get to see him a lot since he separated from his crazy wife. We have their sons they live with us until they get things settled and decide who the kids are going to live with, I adore my nephew's so I'm fine with it they make the house feel happy.
