CHAPTER TWO

Present Day

Lia's POV

Lia what are you still doing up there, you have only 30 seconds to get down here or you'll walk to your interview " Seb who was waiting to drop off shouted.

And that was my queue to hurry downstairs because I don't want to be late for my interview again.I have an interview today in exactly one hour and here I'm,already late because I overslept.

Seb and Leon has done a good job taking care of us.They are both doctors,Simon a lecturer,Luke has opened his law firm and here I am still looking for a job.I've gone to several interviews but none of them reached my expectations.It's either the boss want body bribery or their department is full.

"Please give me 20 more seconds I'm just putting on my shoe"which was a lie because I'm now dressing.Browsing through my clothes I put on a black office skirt with wine colored sleeveless shirts tucked in, black blazer, shoe,small ladies bag and I'm ready.

Stepping out of the car, I bid him goodbye by and he wishes me good luck which I need right now."It's now or never" I encouraged myself.

Turning to the skyscraper in front of me,I gathered all my courage and entered.Every is busy doing their job,I went to the reception and asked for directions.

"Please good morning"I greet the lady behind the desk.

"Good morning dear,how may I help you?"she asked

"I'm here for the assistant interview".I replied

"Okay.....can I have your name?"She asked and I told her my name.She wrote it down then took up a phone on her desk and made a call.She hung up before turning to me.

"Please wait a minute"She pointed to a nearby couch and I nodded my head.She resumed the work and I decided to look around as I waited.

Ding

The elevator door opened and a man stepped out and went to the receptionist.They whispered among themselves before the lady called me and introduced me to the man.

"Hello Ms Johnson,I'm Mr Lewis Gardener but you can me Lewis.I'm Mr Blackwell secretary"he said politely.

"Mr Blackwell will like to see you.Please let me show you his office"

I was nervous but his carefree attitude helped relieve some of the nervousness.

We entered the elevator and he pressed the 9th floor.He tried to make small jokes about Mr Blackwell being in a good mood today so I should thank my destiny helper because today is my lucky but think it makes me feel more nervous. "What if he decides not to employ me,what if I say something that will spoil his mood." "The what if's was too much I have to scold myself to stop ranting in my head"

We reached our destination faster than expected, I think today being the day makes the time moves faster than usual.

The 9th floor was eerily quiet,no noise can be heard,everyone is busily doing something.I think the boss being on this floor is the reason.

After knocking on the glass door,he ushered me in and closed the door gently behind me.

Mr Blackwell is sitting behind his desk busily typing something on his phone. I choose that moment to observe my environment. The office is huge with a couch pushed at the far end on the left side,a small table in the middle of the couch,another door on my right side,I think it might be his personal washroom.Another door was beside the washroom door,a bookshelf and a coffee table.

After the observation,I was met with a stoic man.I can't read anything from his face,his face was blank and he is starring at me.

"What are you doing here."he asked .

Before I can reply another question was being asked "Who gave you permission to enter"did he think I'm a machine or something

"Your assistant let me in, my name is Aurelia Jackson,I'm here for the interview"I said in one breath putting on my best smile

"Ah yes I was looking for a secretary since the last one is on leave"

WHAT !!

Didn't the man outside introduced himself as the secretary or I didn't hear him correctly.

"Please I'm here for the assistant interview I think you're mistaken"I told him

"Are you sure you want this job"he said and smirked

"Yes sir"I replied confidently

"Okay you are hired and you'll start working tomorrow 7:30am sharp and don't disappoint me "he said

He was smiling but I know he meant business.I was speechless,I'm hired just like that without him going through my files,no questions asked and I was hired.

"Thank you sir and I won't disappoint you"I replied

I was calm outside but my heartbeats shows a different thing.I'm a nervous wreck and I can't wait to get out from here.

I was dismissed and the same man who brought me here escort me downstairs.I think his name is Lewis.

"So how was the interview"he asked

"It was okay and I'm hired as the new secretary"I replied calmly and wait for his reaction.

"WHAT!! the new secretary,is he that eager to replace me,I sometimes don't know what run through that boy's mind"he said

All through the ride he murmured to himself about how unfair this is and how he's going to teach him a lesson for messing with him.I don't think he knew he was saying it loudly but I didn't say anything.

I wave at the the receptionist and thank her before walking out.From the corner of my eyes I saw the receptionist and Lewis whispering and I know he's complaining about his work.I hope he'll not hate me for taking his job from him.

Contemplating whether to call Seb or take a taxi home,I choose the later,maybe he's having a meeting or doing something and I don't want to disturb him.

I got home early and started packing everything I'll need tomorrow,I don't want to be late for work on my first day.Setting my alarm,I left my room and went to the kitchen to find something to eat.Cooking is something I really enjoy doing spay from reading.

Cooking lunch for myself,I started preparing dinner early.About 3 hours,everything is set,I washed up and set the table because the "hungry wolves"as will be here any minute.

Having dinner together is an everyday routine for us,we talk about our day and everything else excluding our parents.It's still a topic we're not ready to bring up,even though I miss them,there's nothing we can do about it.

Washing the utensils and organizing the kitchen,I also retired to bed.

Tomorrow is going to be a very long day.
