10. Big brother Jax

2112 Words
I left Jackson and David to settle in and made my way to the training ground. I didn’t feel like walking, so I took my beautiful red SUV. Mostly Jax would drive me around. But with everything that happened lately I didn’t need him. Lucas was always by my side or Garret. It was nice just driving by myself. “Did you need me, Luna?” Jax asked through the mind link. How did he know? I looked in the car to see if something was out of place. “No, Jax, I’m fine, why you ask?” I replied to Jax. It took a couple of seconds before he responded, “No reason.” “What did you do, Jax?” I ask annoyed. “I maybe put a tracker in the SUV,” he said softly. I started laughing, “Well, that doesn’t surprise me.” I cut off the mind link while I pulled up at the training ground. I got out and saw that Lucas was annoyed for some reason. I leaned against the hood of the car and watched everybody train. Jackson warriors were in great shape, they just lacked a certain amount of skill. They relayed too much on strength alone, it made them slow and hesitant in a fight. I suddenly noticed Lucas had shifted. He was breathing heavily. He was furious about something. I started laughing, you really have to pull some s**t to get him angry. He was walking up to two warriors of Jackson’s pack. Growling and showing his canines. They both tried to calm Lucas down, you could see by the way they moved their arms. “He’s not going to kill them, right?” Nyx asked. “No, I don’t think so,” I replied to her. He knew he shouldn’t, it wouldn’t make the best first impression. But I did like the view of his wolf. Beautiful light gray. He was big but lean, he was one of our fastest. I whistle at Lucas. He perked his ears up and glared at me. I thought Axel would be in charge, but it was still Lucas. He gave one last growly look at the two and started walking towards me. He couldn’t shift back because he ripped through his clothes. I placed my hand around his head, “what happened?” I asked while looking into his eyes. “Nothing important,” he mind linked back. I pinched my eyebrow together. If it was nothing important, then why act like this? “Fine then don’t tell me,” I let go of his head and mind-linked Garret. Garret was way better in training everyone. “Are you on your way back?” “Yes Luna, almost back,” he replied through the mind link. “Can you take over from training, Lucas… is having a hard time with some,” I chuckled. Lucas could be such a baby. I could hear Garret laugh, “I heard he got mad and shifted.” “News travels fast.” “Gideon told me, he is behaving better since you… put him in his place.” “I’m glad to hear that, thanks, Garret.” “Anytime Luna,” he said and cut off the mind link. It’s nice to hear Garret laugh, he is always so serious. I looked at Lucas again, “you should go home and maybe check on Jackson. I will wait for Garret,” I said with a smile. “Do you want me to put some clothes on or just wait for you in your bedroom,” he replied through the mind link, hearing his purrs in my mind. I chuckled and walked away. “Put some clothes on,” I mind linked back. I walked towards Gideon. “Shouldn’t you train with the others,” I asked him. “Garret told me to keep an eye on everything until he came back Luna,” he had so much more respect in his tone. I smiled at him. “Good to see you’re coming around.” “I’m sorry, Luna, for how I behaved. I shouldn’t have.” I could see he meant every word of it. I placed my hand on his shoulder. “Apology accepted,” I said with a smile. He wasn’t that bad, he just needed to know his place. “You should train I’ll wait for Garret.” He nodded and went over to Riley to spar with her. I called everybody in and explained a new training exercise. Wolf form against human form. For my warriors, it wouldn’t make a difference in what form they would fight. But I needed to see how Jackson’s warriors would handle themselves. I noticed a familiar scent coming my way, I turned around and saw Garret walking up to me. “Hi, Garret,” I said with a smile. He barred his neck at me and said, “Hello, Luna Aurora.” I sighed. “You don’t have to do that.” “Yes, I do,” he replied while looking at Jackson’s warriors. I looked over at them as well. What happened? “What did they do Garret?” “They, ehm…” Garret tried to choose his words carefully. “Well, with you being an unmated she-wolf they may have said something about that.” I was confused. They were respectful to me at the border. “They don’t think I can rule my pack?” “No, no, it’s not that.” Garret sighed. “It was more what they would do to you if you would let them.” And then it hit me. I started laughing, tears filling my eyes. “They can’t handle me.” I chuckled. Garret looked over me and was stunned at what I just said. “Good to know,” he said with a smirk. “Sorry, I shouldn’t have said that. Now I understand why Lucas was mad.” “Yeah, Lucas is sometimes a bit jealous and possessive when it comes to you, Luna.” My brows pinched together. “Possessive?” “Not in a bad way, but he doesn’t like it if you get the attention of other wolves. He wants you all to himself,” Garret tried to make it sound less bad. I didn’t notice that side of him. I wondered if that was the reason Axel pressed forward while I was dancing with Garret. “I never thought about it like that.” “I do think it comes from a place of love,” Garret said. “We don’t usually talk like this anymore Garret, it’s nice actually,” I said while giving him a little nudge. I wondered if that had something to do with Lucas. We all grew up together. But Garret somehow changed over the years. I missed him as a friend. “I did enjoy our dance yesterday.” I laughed. “If I didn’t know you any better, I would think you’re flirting with me, don’t let Lucas find out.” I grinned. “I think I can take him,” he said. “I know you can.” I chuckled. “Can you do something for me, it doesn’t have to be today.” “Yes, of course, Luna,” he said, all serious. There is the Garret I know. “Can you get in touch with Luna Freya? I want to proceed to phase two. If you can explain to her about the merger I want, that would be great.” “I will, Luna.” Garret nodded. “Thank you, Garret.” I smiled at him. He didn’t even notice. He was back in his serious mode, watching the warriors train. He had both his hands behind his back. His feet at hips width. Always so serious. One of the things I like about him the most. “I will leave you to it then.” I turned away and walked over to my car. I could feel him watching me walk away like he wanted to say something, but he didn’t. I looked up to my car and saw Jax sitting on the hood. “Seriously, Jax, I’m perfectly capable of driving myself.” “I know you are, Luna, but Latifa was missing me,” he said with a big smile. “Who is Latifa?” I walked over to the passenger’s side and tossed the keys to Jax. “This is,” he said while getting up from the hood and tapping it. “Did you seriously name the car Latifa?” I looked at him with big eyes, trying to hide my laughter. He chuckled. “Yes sure did.” He got in the car and adjusted the driver’s seat. I looked over at him annoyed at how far back he placed his seat. “I’m not that short,” I said with a small growl leaving my lips. “I’m not going to answer that Luna,” he said with a grin while he reversed out of the parking spot. “Can I ask you something, Jax?” “Sure, Luna.” “What do you think of Lucas as an Alpha,” I was nervous about his answer, especially with what happened today. “Lucas has always been good to me, Luna. I think he would make a great Alpha,” he said with a smile. “Why did you ask? You know he loves you.” “Just by something Garret said. It’s nothing,” I tried to wave it off. Jax chuckled. “It’s not like Lucas doesn’t like Garret. He does. But he knows Garret likes you, and that makes him act sometimes a bit jealous.” “Well he has nothing to be jealous about,” I said with a smile. “Let me ask you this, if Lucas wasn’t around would you be interested in Garret,” he asked with a devious smirk on his face. “That’s bad, I haven’t thought about Garret in that way. But I do like his company, and I know him ever since I was little. But that’s the same with you.” “It’s not the same,” he shook his head, “we always been more like brother and little sister,” he said while squeezing my cheek. I pulled away and gave him an annoyed look. I didn’t mind and I didn’t see it as disrespect. He watched me grow up. I could talk about anything with him. He would never judge. There was never any sort of romantic feelings toward each other, and I adored his mate, Kimberly. “You know, a lot of people thought Garret would be your Beta.” “Maybe he will be after Lucas becomes my Alpha,” I said with a grin. Jax sighed. “That’s not what I meant Aurora.” “I know,” I said with an eye roll. “You didn’t just eye roll at me,” he said with a c****d eyebrow. “What you going to do about it, need another beating.” I punched him in his arm. He let out a growl. “Just wait, one day I will have my revenge.” I chuckled at his response. We arrived at the packhouse the lights were already on. Lucas must have already finished with Jackson. I stepped out of the car and looked over at Jax. “You can take Latifa home if you want,” I said with a smile. “Okay, just this once,” he said with a grin. I closed the car door and Jax drove off. I turned and walked towards the front door, just before I could open it Lucas opened it for me. He was completely naked only wearing an apron. I laughed at the sight of him. “Welcome home honey,” he said with a grin. “We are going to do nicknames now, sweetheart.” I c****d my eyebrow at him when I walked inside. Lucas closed the door behind me. “What’s for dinner?” I asked him while trying not to laugh at what he was wearing. “Well I tried, but it didn’t work out that well, so I thought you could eat some whip cream,” he said, moving in closer. “Whip cream?” I pinched my eyebrows together. Whipped cream wasn’t really diner material. “Yeah, you can lick it off me.” He grabbed my waist and pulled me in close he started kissing my neck and inhaling my scent. “You always smell so good.”
