Michael called from downstairs, "Essel, we are going to be late for school!"
"Just a moment, Mr. Impatient! I am on my way," I replied with a laugh, glancing in the mirror before hurrying down the stairs.
"At last! Honestly, I believe I could have driven all the way to Canada and still returned with ample time to spare for you!" he joked, playfully kicking my leg as I passed him on my way to the kitchen.
