I Love You

*Third Person’s Point Of View*

When everything settled and the estate was cleaned of all the rogues, Aurora and Jonah were finally able to breathe with ease. One by one, the guests began to leave and since Aurora’s family was returning to Archer that same night, they spent more time saying goodbye and wishing them a safe journey. Once they were gone Jonah’s mother also departed after congratulating both of them on their new roles. She wished them unending happiness and promised to visit them in the upcoming month.

When they were alone in their bedroom, Aurora took a bath and then helped Jonah take his bath to prevent the wound on his right shoulder from becoming any more grave. Once they were finished, she helped disinfect the wound and then covered the wound with a bandage. She tried her best not to hurt him in the process by wrapping his shoulder carefully, then down and across his back and finally around his firm chest. Jonah remained silent as he watched Aurora work diligently. After securing the bandage, she got up from their bed and put the materials back in the first aid kit. When she finished, she looked back at him and gave him a smile.

“Does your shoulder hurt? Maybe it’s too tight …”

Jonah walked over to where Aurora stood and minimized the space between them to which she reacted nervously by tugging a strand of hair behind her ear.

“No. Thank you for helping me. Actually … I want to ask you something.”

“What is it?”

“Why didn’t you listen to Leon and just go to the safe room?”

“I know you’re angry, but I was worried about the guests and, more importantly, the children.”

“I get that you wanted to help, but that’s what the warriors and Leon were there for! I can’t have you running into the fight and putting yourself in harm's way!”

“I didn’t mean to make you worry. I -“

Jonah got closer to Aurora, forcing her into the wall behind her that met with the palm of his heavy hand.

“Don’t you understand? You are my mate! That arrow hit me, but what if I had been a second late or if you had been all alone?! They could have harmed you, Aurora!”

The loud slam of his hand against the wall made Aurora flinch and, out of desperation, she raised her voice at him without holding any of her feelings back.

“You’re the one who doesn’t understand! I wanted to help so that you wouldn’t carry the burden all on your own. I didn’t want you to get hurt. I’d rather that arrow hit me!”

Jonah grabbed her shoulders and shook her body frantically.

“What nonsense are you saying?! You-“

“No, please listen. You are my life and if something were to happen to you, I - I would die because … I - I love you, Jonah!”

When those words finally escaped from the depths of her heart, Aurora’s eyes grew heavy with tears. She was feeling all sorts of emotions that made her body tremble. She had never said those words to anyone, but she was unable to contain the strong feeling surging within her body. She wanted to let Jonah know how she truly felt. He was the most important being in her heart. He was the only one in her heart.

Jonah could not believe her words. He thought he was dreaming, but the loud sound of his heart pounding in his ears made him realize he was very much awake. She loved him. She really loved him! He took a few steps closer to her and then reached to lift her delicate chin. He caressed her cheekbones ever so softly and brought his face closer to hers. He saw the affection she had for him in her trembling eyes that glistened with tears.

“It feels like I have been waiting my whole life for this moment… I love you too, Aurora. More than you will ever know.”

Jonah captured her lips in an instant. He kissed them lightly, tasting the salty tears that had made their way down there. He sucked on her lower lip gently, before exploring the insides of her mouth. Aurora responded to his kiss and enjoyed every sensation as he moved his tongue to entangle it with hers. Aurora grew breathless from the passionate kiss, but she didn’t want him to stop.

She wrapped her arms around his strong neck as Jonah continued to please her. The deep kiss went on until he moved to her mark. His actions were driving her crazy and she couldn’t help but move her fingers through his hair to push him closer to her. Aurora could feel his erection from beneath his robe as he walked over to the bed. Jonah kissed her hand and her fingertips.
