Rejection Accepted

Xavier’s Pov I walked around my room, agitated. I couldn't understand why I was so unhappy even though today was my coronation. Just when I was drowning in my thoughts, Zadar walked in, his presence commanding respect. Just the sight of him disgusted me and it added to my sadness. Zadar, the man who took the Alpha status forcefully without my consent. My parents had died when I was young, thanks to the treacherous Beta, Richard Troost who killed them and because I was still a lad, I couldn't take the Alpha status since everyone claimed that I wouldn't be able to handle the task that came with being an Alpha. I agree but Zadar was the worst person to have taken the position. Every time I remember that my parents could have probably been alive today but because of the evil Beta who took their lives, I was always filled with so much contempt for everyone who tried to cross paths with my Alpha position which was why I promised to ruin the life of his only daughter just as he ruined my life. Making her a slave wasn't just enough punishment for her father’s evil deeds, I'll make sure she has no reason to ever smile again. “Look at you, you don't seem like someone ready to take the Alpha’s position. Do you realize that being an Alpha entails a lot? You have to be fast and effective. You don't need to be distracted at all,” the aggressive man in his late sixties uttered. “I thought you would be dressed by now but it seems like you are not ready yet.” I stared at him with my set of mean eyes. What gave him the audacity to speak to me like I was a toddler? When would he ever stop speaking down on me? I roamed my eyes all over him and I couldn't help but scoff. He was overdressed. One would think he was the new Alpha with the type of elegant robe he was putting on, even better than mine. It was just like he was still trying to take my place even on my coronation day. I felt terrible. Thinking of it, I knew I needed to find a way to deal with him, as the new Alpha. The Alpha's position was mine to begin with and I needed to claim it, firstly by winning the hearts of the people then I’ll make sure I deal with Zadar accordingly. He interrupted my thoughts again. “You should get ready by now,” he uttered with a command tone. “ Don't forget that the Lycan King is invited. Although he won't be attending, the Lycan Prince will surely be here because he has a meeting close to the pack. You'd better get ready and don't put us to shame,” he declared, staring coldly at me. He never spoke to me, he was always controlling. “I am not a child anymore, and of course, I will not disgrace my pack,” I voiced out, calmly trying to maintain a good atmosphere on the most important day of my life. I heard him scoff. “If you claim you are not a child then you have to act like it.” Letting out a heavy sigh, I answered. “Don't worry about me, I'll take good care of the Lycan Prince. You can stop worrying now, you're not in charge of the pack anymore, your role has ended today,” I said, deliberately. Just as expected, his devious laughter came out, irritating me in the process. “My role may have ended, but make sure that you don’t tamper with any of the things I have worked so hard to build when you were younger.” I rolled my eyes. Useless things that never helped the pack grow? “Of course, I won't. I have no business with your achievements. I'm focused on building mine too.” I retorted. The hatred in his eyes showed how upset he was with my words. He nodded his head aggressively and walked away. I cared less about how he felt and I just wanted to make sure that I got the trust of the pack members as the new Alpha. Not long after Zadar left, I heard a knock on the door and I gestured for the person to come in, only for me to raise my head to see the most annoying person I wished I shouldn't have seen for that day. Mira, the traitor’s daughter. I became more enraged. Why is she in my room on a day like this and why is she holding my clothes? “What are you doing here, you disgusting being?!” I fired without thinking twice. “Have you gone out of your mind?!” I shrieked, letting my anger take over me. “Your father is the reason why my life is this miserable, can’t you still understand? Why can't you see that I despise you alot and I don't want to see you anywhere around me? What exactly is your problem?” I took threatening steps towards her. “I- I- 'm sorry, I just wanted t—” “Don't you dare say a word, i***t! What the hell are you doing here?” “I was told to bring in your clothes,” she uttered with a shaky voice. “Will you shut it? And how dare you touch my clothes? You should be punished for this. Kneel and beg for forgiveness, you low slave.” I watched as she went on her knees to apologize like a little child and it irritated me the more. I wanted to kick her out so badly that I couldn't help but move closer to her. But just as I pulled on her hair, about to kick her on her, I felt something triggering, a very weird feeling that I have never felt before. It can't be! I shook violently as I stared at her in disgust, pulling myself backwards from her. My wolf growling in the process. “No, no. We can't be mates!” I bellowed, inquisitively. “My mate?” She responded with her mouth agape and I felt like hitting her across her face but my wolf became so drawn to her that I couldn't take a step. It was hard. I restrained myself so badly to go to her even when my mate wanted more. What the hell is happening? Why will I be mates to this low slave whose father destroyed my life? I was devastated and didn't know when my mouth opened up to speak. I just knew I needed to get rid of her. “I reject you to be my mate, you can not be my mate. I, Xavier Alex, the soon-to-be Alpha reject you as my mate!” I growled heavily as the pain of rejection surged over me. “How can such a lowly slave like you who disgusts me be my mate? I will never accept you.” She lowered her head which I knew was because she was feeling the same pain but to my amazement, she spoke up. “I, Mira Troost, accept your rejection,” she countered, relentlessly and my eyes shone out in shock. “What? How dare you?!” My voice trembled as I spoke. How can she accept my rejection just like that? I was taken aback. Has she prepared to reject me already? She couldn't even beg for me to reconsider her, she has no remorse at all. I was expecting her to break down yet she was doing the opposite. What guts does she have? She seemed strong and it got on my nerves. I won't let this happen. I won't make her go scot free, I’ll make sure I break the spirit of hers.
