Anger And Resentment

Mira’s Pov I had barely slept for an hour when Lady Hilda, the woman in charge of the Omegas pulled me out from my tiny bed. I groaned in anger, remembering I had done a lot of work the other night, helping out in preparing for Prince Xavier, the Alpha’s son who was taking the position of the Alpha King. I have done several tasks that made me weak and went inside late only to be woken up again when I haven't gotten any rest. I became furious. “Hey, girl! Get up! How dare you sleep like you're some Princess.” She barked, angrily and it made me wonder what was making her upset. I was the one who was supposed to be mad. “I guess you have forgotten what your rank is, right? If not, what will give you the nerves to keep sleeping on a very important day like this!” she yelled at the top of her voice, not getting tired of screaming every time. I just had no idea why she was used to just shouting. I sluggishly stood up from bed and as expected, it got her more tense. She suddenly grabbed me by my hair and I yelped in pain. “You little piece of trash! Take this outfit to the Alpha’s room. This is what he will wear for the coronation, and mind you, if anything goes wrong, you'll be punished accordingly. Now leave!” she shrieked out loud, throwing the expensive clothes on me without caring who owns it. It was when the door to my room was shut that the realization hit me. I'm to deliver the Alpha clothes? Why? I became confused. If the Alpha clothes were to be delivered, it shouldn't be me, everyone knows that. I couldn't understand why I had to be the one to deliver his clothes, especially on a day like this. Has the woman in charge forgotten how much he despised me? Why has she not sent someone else to go make the delivery? Anyways, I had no choice other than to do what I was told. All I just needed to do was to pray that Prince Xavier would be in a good mood and I wouldn't have to face any trouble. I was walking down the hallway when I saw Zadar stepping out of the Alpha’s room and I panicked. Without wasting a second, I quickly hid beside the pillar to avoid him seeing me. He resented me for no reason even when my father was alive and I knew meeting him that morning with the look on his face would stir up dramas that I wouldn't love. I watched him walk through the hallway, passed me and I noticed how he was neatly dressed as if he was supposed to be Alpha. Even his clothes looked more elegant than the Prince’s own I was holding. Meanwhile, he was just the man who handled the position of the Alpha when the old Alpha and Luna died. I sighed as I saw him take gradual steps out of the hallway, happy that I was able to avoid him. I came out of my hiding place and headed to the Prince’s room, my heart racing faster, knowing I might get into trouble seeing the way Zadar has left his chamber. Just as I predicted, I started to hear metallic sounds coming out from inside the room as I got closer. It was then, I heard his hoarse voice. “How dare Zadar speak to me like that? Who does he think he is to talk down to me like I am a child.” The movements going on inside the room made me shake in fright. Xavier wasn't in a good mood and it wasn't going to be good either for me. With the clothes in my hands, I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself down. I was the one handling his coronation clothes to him and there was no way I would escape him. As I got to the door, I took a deep breath for a hundredth of time and swallowed my saliva, muttering some few words of prayers before knocking on his door. No response came in and I couldn't help but just go in. “The Alpha Ceremony is about to begin. Please change your clothes now,” I said softly as I took slow strides to him while lowering my head hoping not to annoy him. “What are you doing here, you disgusting being?!” I wasn't surprised by his words so I allowed him say all he could utter as far as I was only giving his clothes to him while I tried apologizing in the process. But it seemed like he was totally in a mad state that he gripped hold of my hair, the same hair everyone kept pulling and I tried to savor the pain but I felt something else instead. An electric pressure suddenly coursed through my veins and my wolf dangled within as I held my breath in astonishment. Then, it dawned on me. My mate! “No, no. We can't be mates!” He snarled as I couldn't help but gasp. “My mate?” I questioned no one in particular as I knelt, gazing widely at him. How can we be mates? Prince Xavier? My worst nightmare, my mate? It can't just be. How can it be possible? I knew it was impossible when he started to reject me and I never knew where the courage came from for me to accept the rejection. I just knew we cannot be mates. I accepted his rejection. The shock on his face when I did it was vivid. I could feel the tension from his anger as he gazed dangerously at me. “How dare you accept my rejection, you disgusting slave?” he bellowed, his voice resounding over the room. “I wouldn't want to be mated to someone like you-” He cut me short. “You dare speak to me like that? Do you just raise your voice at me? An Alpha?” He spoke with so much authority that I trembled between my feets. “I'm sorry-” “Oh! Bravo! The little nitwit has grown some wings. You can speak back to me now, huh?” He pursed his lips as he came closer to me. I could feel my lips shaky as he got close. “Have you forgotten I'm now an Alpha to you? Even your father in the grave would respect me,” he snapped and I just couldn't take it any longer. It was enough of my father, every single time, my father. The innocent man did nothing to him. All he did was look after the pack yet, all he got in return was a painful death. “Please, do not disrespect my father like that ever again,” I spoke, harshly not believing my boldness but I knew it came from the anger of rejection and resentment. “How dare you speak to an Alpha in such a way?!” He growled but I was more prepared. “An Alpha indeed, huh? You're just a mere tool and that's it, I wouldn't be so excited if I were you,” I spat, trying not to maintain a gaze. Devious laughter erupted from him as he spoke in between. “Such effrontery! To me, Xavier? Have you forgotten who you're speaking to?” I hated his arrogance and I scoffed as I raised myself from the ground. “Yes, you. You, Prince Xavier. I don't mean to disrespect you but enough of my father and the hatred.” His look was threatening but filled with surprise. He wouldn't have expected such guts from me. I was even more surprised by my own outburst. “Just know that you’ve beaten more than you can chew. If only you know what you're joking with,” he snarled as he turned to walk away but I wasn't done.
