Mira's Pov
“You’ve already dealt with me in diverse ways, I won't be surprised at what you do next.”
He halted and swirled around to face me, sending daggers at me with his eyes. I could see them already switching from the normal brown to his red wolf. “What did you just say?” He requested, bawling his lips but I wasn't shaken. I was tired of him always using me as bait for no reason. I did nothing to him but he treated me as trash.
“You heard me, right. Xavier. You heard me.”
He stood still, his blazing eyes stowing at me from head to toe. I was sure I was getting him off his feets. He couldn't just figure out where all of it was coming from but I never cared. “So, because we just discovered we're mates gives you the audacity to speak to me like this, right?”
I snarled. “I wondered why the Moon Goddess had to join me with someone as brutal as you.”
“You know you're such an ungrateful, dirty slave! Can you shut the f**k?!” He growled, storming back to where I stood but I remained in my stance. I wouldn't let his mere threats put me off.
“You know it's a good thing you rejected me ‘cause I don't have to deal with this arrogance-” I choked as his hands tightened over my neck. His grasp was strong and I saw his thick veins popping out of his skin as he tried lifting me up from the floor and I began to struggle against his fist.
“Pleaseeeee…” I tried to beg but it seemed I had already passed my boundary. He was never going to forgive me, not forever.
“I'll end your life today and you'll be served as meat as a gift for my coronation,” he stated with so much effrontery that I gave in to his words. Maybe, it would be better if I just died. Maybe, I could finally find peace by joining my dead parents in the afterlife.
His chamber’s door was suddenly thrown open and a slave ran in. “Sir, the Lycan Prince just arrived-” He paused, noticing the tense atmosphere and quickly apologized. “I’m so sorry, Prince Xavier. Please, forgive me...”
He was still pleading for forgiveness when suddenly I felt Xavier loosen his grip on me and I went dangling to the ground instantly, my bone clashing against the hard ground as I winced in pain, sniffing on my tears that started to pour out so violently. I was still trying to swallow the agony when I heard multiple footsteps walking into the room.
“Oh, welcome Lycan Prince Perry. I’m honored to have you attend my coronation. You must have had a stressful journey, please have a seat.” His hoarse voice came out pleasantly and I was forced to raise my head to see lots of guards walking into the room only for me to squint my eyes and my gaze suddenly landed on the most demeaning figure entering into the room. My eyes shone out in realization as I stared widely at the Lycan Prince.
He was clothed in fine linen. Handsome, I mean so breathtaking and captivating but the fierce look on his face could render someone useless. His ocean blue eyes shone out like that of a sea and I couldn't believe I was staring at the most dangerous and cold-blooded Lycan Prince that everyone kept talking about. Yes, Prince Perry. He was known to be the most daring Prince in the Lycan world. Heartless and manipulative, I heard and looking at him, I didn't need anyone to continue explaining who he was. His stare was so vicious that I couldn't bring myself to look at him.
Meanwhile, Xavier walked forward to welcome him as he tried to impress him by acting all nice. So, there's someone on this earth that he can respect so much. Well, why not? It's the Lycan Prince!
With the state of things, I knew my presence in the room was no longer needed. The Lycan Prince happened to save me from my demise by diverting Xavier's attention from me and I knew I had to make use of it. I had to be smart. I raised myself gently from the ground, dragging my weak body as I tried to make an exit through the midst of the soldiers that had followed him in with pain, searing through my side. I gritted my teeth, pushing through the agony.
Suddenly, a deep, stern voice that seemed closer spoke up and it somehow stopped me from moving. “Stop right there.” My heart skipped. The voice, like thunder on a stormy night, sent shivers coursing through my veins. Surely the voice wasn't for Xavier. Then, who could it be?
Curiously, I turned to face the speaker, only for my eyes to lock into that of the Lycan Prince's piercing stare. His gaze burned with intensity, his chiseled features twisted into a scowl. His sharp jawline clenched, radiating anger. His eyes seemed to bore into my very soul, laying bare my deepest fears. Why did he stop me? Was I that noticeable?
My legs shook uncontrollably as he took deliberate, threatening steps towards me. He stood over me, his size and strength making me feel small and vulnerable. There was a sudden silence in the room and I knew everyone was shocked as I was. The Lycan Prince's eyes seemed to hold me captive, pinning me in place but his gaze, in a split second softened and I saw something there, something that made my heart waver.
Cutting in, Xavier spoke up, “And where do you think you're going?”
My eyes darted to him instantly and I decided to use the Prince as an excuse. “I would like to give you and the Lycan Prince privacy,” I lied, struggling to voice out words from my aching throat.
“Oh!” I heard him mouthed but I still lowered my head. Not because of him, but because I was avoiding the Lycan Prince who won't stop staring at me. “There’ll be no need for that. Stay.” His smile was vicious and his suspicious wink forced goosebumps out of my skin. “Prince Perry, I know you will be stressed from your journey and that is why_”
“Who's she?” The Lycan Prince stopped him from going further.
I still maintained my stance even though my wobbled legs kept trembling. I just couldn't tell why the Lycan Prince was interested in me. “She is nothing but a mere slave who has no value at all,” Xavier answered and reached out to me, forcing me to my knees. I yelped in pain.
“I want her!” His tone was commanding, putting me off. I forced myself to raise my head and saw the cold eyes of the Prince staring down at me as disbelief washed over me. What the hell did he just say? Was I sure I heard him right?
“Really?” Xavier's voice came out calmly but dazed. But after a moment of silence, he added. “She's a slave but if you're serious, I'll gladly give her to you.”
I felt my whole body go numb. Does that mean Xavier was giving me to the Lycan Prince? How can Xavier do this? Of all people, how dare he give me to the ruthless Prince? What have I done to deserve such a terrible punishment?
The Lycan Prince retreats his steps and armed hands clutched to my body, pulling me up. I found my voice. “No, no, you can't do this!” I screamed but it was all in vain. I was dragged away.
