It was finally time to carry out what I’d conceived all this while. It was finally time to begin my revenge on the king. Nervousness flicked in my belly. I pushed it down, focusing on the emotion that I was amassing into my palm.
The flames went on and off as I stared into my open palm. It wasn’t enough to feel it anymore. I needed to see and control it. I closed my eyes, and inhaled deeply, reaching into that part of myself that I’d tried so much to hide. The one that itches when my emotions ran too high, and when rage curled around my chest like a noose.
By the time I opened my eyes, I could feel the heat coming up in my palm. I controlled my breathing and kept visualizing the flame. Just like Geniee had taught me, I imagined that my palm was alive and obedient to my will.
