The rain was the mist floating from the base of a waterfall. She looked upward, then upward some more, then so far upward that her neck hurt. The fall came from heaven. Melissa talked to herself. Or to the landscape. Maybe it was to the landscape, she decided, while she was talking. “I don’t understand this at all, but I love it. I wish I could take pictures, but if I can’t, I can visit every day and make it live inside me. You’re so … perfect. The place of my dreams.
