~Prologue~
I hear noises behind me,I quicken my pace but careful not to leave Theresa behind, "Tessa, Tess keep up" I say. "I'm trying my best" she retorts while adjusting the baby in her arms. The baby was just a day old, hadn't cried since she left the safe bound of Tessa's uterus but Tessa's sure she's alive. The mob are chasing after us now,I stop for a while startling Tessa in her tracks, "What's wrong Andrew?" she half whispers, "We don't have much time Tessa, take the baby and leave" I order.
"What ?" ," Go Tessa I have to stall them,Please " I say removing the half heart pendant on my neck and then wearing it on the baby's frail neck. " Andrew I can't leave you behind " Tessa screams while her half pendant gleams in the dark matching the baby's. " You have too....I love you" , " No, don't do....", she's interrupted by gunshots. "Go now ! " I scream while pulling out my rifle. I see one of the mobs running towards me, I dodge the first blow, just to get stabbed perfectly in the stomach by another. I run off to hide and inspect the wound. One thing about we Divergents, our heart isn't in our chest, it's located in our lower abdomen, so the place I was stabbed was close to my heart. I knew I wasn't gonna make it, I decided to use my dying breathe to search for Tessa and the baby, I put a knee to ground and then I sensed for her. Immediately my vision clears,I see her at the park, she's still with the baby but something else is happening, the baby's eyes is opening, I can't see clearly anymore I must be losing powers. I struggle to see more, just then Theresa drops our baby wrapped in swaddling clothes on the Park's Marygold round and leaves. She's leaving, I don't understand, She's saving herself, I try to telecommunicate to her " Tessa, Tessa you left our baby " I scream
"Andrew ? Andrew ! where are you? " she replies
"Tessa our baby " I say again . " What baby ?, Andrew ? " she asks quizzically, immediately the connection's disconnected.
I was dying and the person I died for betrayed me, she abandoned our baby, she abandoned my daughter.
