Chapter 33They took Gil’s car back to Selene’s house. She’d worry about her vehicle in the morning. She’d worry about Eileen, too, who had already called several times. She turned off her phone just as she stepped into her place. Gil looked around with wide, curious eyes. She praised the interior, the photos on the wall, and then the nice arrangement of the trinkets on her bookshelf. Very thing that she said seemed so much more profound than it was banal, just because she was here. “Can I show you my photos?” Gil asked after Selene offered her a spot on the couch. “Or do you want the full story?
