Chapter 1: Shattered Hearts
Storm's POV
"Creek." The unmistakable sound of a bed creaking greeted me as I stepped into the house.
I had just returned from my usual morning run, only to be welcomed with that odd noise.
My curiosity piqued as I made my way to the bedroom, where the strange sounds grew louder.
What on earth was going on?
“Umm, f**k!” A loud moan suddenly echoed from my room.
Without hesitation, I turned to my heels and pushed the door open.
The sight before me left me utterly speechless—Kyle, had his head tilted back, staring at the ceiling, as he humped in and out of the w***e pinned beneath him on my bed.
He promised!
He f*****g did promised!
And I fell for it again like the fool that I am!
“This asshole swore he’d never cheat on me again.” I muttered bitterly, tears streaming down my face.
I took a shaky breath, my gaze falling on the vase sitting on the table near the door. I hesitated, but when I heard the woman moan louder, pleading for Kyle to go deeper, something inside me snapped.
Without thinking, I grabbed the vase and hurled it at Kyle. It hit him directly on his head, sending him sprawling onto his back.
He let out a sharp cry of pain, rolling off the woman and onto the other side of the bed as he clutched at his back.
“What the f**k? Storm?” He gasped, his wide eyes locking onto mine in shock.
I barely spared him a glance, my tear-filled eyes shifting instead to the woman on the bed.
My heart stopped.
“Mom!”
My mate… was cheating on me with my mother?
How is this even possible?
“You couldn’t even spare your own daughter, could you?” I spat, my voice trembling.
"Oh please. Spare me all that, you won't breathe a word to anyone if you do care about your life." My mom, Rosette said.
"What? Mom?" I screamed, holding my head as the sting of the betrayal ached so badly.
“Leave this room. And you won't spill it to anyone else I would have your head dismantled from your body.” My mom said, and I nodded running out in fear.
Lying in the guest room after being chased out, I rocked myself to sleep and I woke up later that evening to the sound of my door being opened vehemently.
“Wake up. You need to get ready for your mating ceremony.” My mom said, like nothing had happened this morning.
“You look marvellous. You're sure a work of art.” My maid, Lydia said and I mustered a smile to make her feel better.
The chauffeur nodded immediately I got into the car and I nodded back, closing my eyes as I got lost in my thoughts wishing the event that had happened this morning would be all a dream.
Suddenly the car stooped and I rose my head up in surprise, we weren't even close to Kyle's palace.
Screams got me panicking and scrambling out of the car to check what was wrong.
A growl got me turning to my left, a huge and deadly mistake as I received a blow that shoved me into a wall and I yelled.
My whole entourage lying dead on the floor and the chauffeur trying to escape, but he was pulled and slit into two.
I felt sick!
Then the object of the inhumane acts appeared; a rogue werewolf and I screamed for help but who would help?
Just as it tried to leap at me, something or rather someone stopped it and I closed my eyes with my hand in fear.
Growls and groans streaming around me and suddenly it stilled. A rough hand touched my shoulder errupting sparks on my skin.
“Open your eyes and go in.” I did as instructed and the most finest creature I have ever seen was in my front.
“You're safe now. I'm Kylian and you can go in.” Kylian said, disappearing immediately, making me feel like I was hallucinating.
His name stuck on my lips and my heart beating fast in a way that made me feel uncomfortable because of Kyle.
Going into the palace with the guards bowing to me, tears filled my eyes but I wiped it away in fear of my mom.
“I, Kyle of the Black Tower pack rejects you as my mate. Never to be.” Those words brought me back to reality.
“No. No, I didn't tell anyone. I'm sorry, please don't do this.” I pleaded, the whole pack looking at me with pity and concern but none could disregard their Alpha.
It seemed like my heart was poked with a hot spear and my body began heating. The pain of the rejection was unbearable, especially when I had done nothing wrong.
This is all unfair!
“And I take, Rosette Zane as my mate. Forever to be.” Kyle said. Taking my mother into his arms as they kissed, and the whole pack clapped while cheering.
Betrayal hurts. But it hurts more when your family member, not just anyone but your mother does it to you.
My whole world had crumbled and I would never get my old self, old Storm have been killed and mauled.
“Mom, you did this to your only daughter? Why? I have always being a good daughter to you?” I whimpered, falling to the floor as I sobbed out in pain.
“Oh, my dearest daughter. I wanted him and he wanted me.” My mother said, giving me a wine glass and forcing me to take it.
“And I pronounce thee as Alpha and Luna.” The pack's priest said.
“Guards, take her to the dungeon. I would pay a visit in the morning.” My mother, Rosette said and I was dragged out by two guards more humiliated than how criminals are treated.
I was thrown into the cell, the ground was cold and very dirty. Rats and the cold wind were my only companions till the morning finally appeared.
She didn't come and I already lost all hope, I was sure going to die here by my own mother's hand. It hurts more than a stranger piercing heated spears into my heart.
“Thud.” I heard and there was blackout with the woman wearing black smiling at me. A satisfied smile plastered on her face.
“Master would be happy.”
