Jenna stared back, shaking her head in confusion.
“Who knows? You said you were the only one here!”
“I’m the only human. I told you the invaders are here too. We were in a stalemate. I managed to hold them off, though not until they had transformed me as far as this, but I could never beat them. They detected your ship and then your presence. But they waited. Waited to see if I would give you the information they needed to spread through the Tagrale. They can be patient when they want to. Damn patient.”
“I can’t just leave you here…”
“There’s no time to worry about me. The invaders are most active on the part of the station furthest from me. That means you still have some time. Now move! Go on! I’ll keep them away from you. I hope.”
