Jenna started the Defender moving toward where the Tagrale’s transition point would form. It wouldn't be long now before it was ready… but it might still be too long.
Even if it wasn’t, even if she could go through before the invaders breached the bridge, could she really risk it with them aboard? Could she trust that Hayley had been honest with her, and had been right about the restrictions she’d added?
Jenna felt determination in her chest. If she did go through then she had to ensure she could destroy the invaders on board almost immediately if they were still active. To stop them taking the Defender, but more importantly to stop them detaching from her ship and heading off to infect a new system. And that would mean destroying the Defender itself.
