33 Jenna blinked her way back to awareness. How long had she been sitting there stunned? A few seconds at least. Long enough for her to be overwhelmed, but maybe the invaders had been affected too. And why? She’d never felt this bad after any previous transition. Her head snapped round to look at the bridge doors. They were closed. In panic she scanned the rest of the room, but there was nothing lurking waiting to strike. She was alone. Heart still in her mouth, she brought up video of the corridors leading from the shuttle bay to the bridge. Each and every one was empty.
