Ivy awoke to the sound of rain hitting the windowsill. For a moment, she forgot where she was and sat up quickly. A moment of panic flooded her system as she took in her surroundings. Then she looked down at the rock T-shirt she was wearing and remembered she was at Roman’s. She had slept in Roman’s house, in his shirt that smelled like freshly washed sheets. Memories of their conversation late last night came swimming back to her. She could recall words, laced with years of pain, see the despair in his emerald eyes as he recounted the incident that had shattered Harper’s sense of security.
